How to Wear Coloured Trousers?

In a moment of sales madness I have become the proud owner of one pair of bright red skinny jeans, one pair of bottle green skinny jeans and one pair of purple skinny jeans.

As someone totally non-fashionable who usually lives in blue skinniest with a pair of Dr Martens I have realised that I have no idea what to wear with these magnificent purchases.

Is there anything I can get away with other than a black jumper? Any advice would be appreciated.

I have bright yellow trousers and rust coloured trousers and love them. I wear them with white, not black, which I think brings the colour out instead of deadening it and then a navy blazer (goes with so many bright colours) to smarten it up for work. Neutral colour accessories (but again not black, usually tan or metallics).

I also like dressing in different shades of the same colour. So: orange silk shirt with the rust trousers, plus deep tan shoes, for instance.
