Hi. I rarely wear make-up and only have the very basics. I have decided it’s time to upgrade my make-up but have absolutely no idea of what I need. Could anyone give me a list of what to get please? I’m 52 as well so something age appropriate lol.

I normally wear No 7 but as happy to look at other brands.

Thank you

Foundation or bb, cc cream with s pf to even out and protect complexion, blusher, concealer if necessary, finely milled compact powder, mascara, , eyeshadow, and say 2 or 3 lipsticks

I’d go to a Bobbi Brown counter, ask them to make you up and get some of the products they recommend for you.

They are very, very good at subtle, classy looking make up for mature skin.

My make up bag staples are-
A primer suitable for your skin type
Foundation or BB cream depending on what's coverage you want (I use nars tinted moisturiser or l oreal infallible matte during the day and Estée Lauder double wear for nights out)
A concealer (maybeline eye eraser is a good drug store option and good on mature skin)

I tend to use a matte light bronzer for a glow rather than blusher ect (often Bobby brown although I'm still a lover of benefit hoola powder)
Black mascara
Brow pencil or brow mascara (currently using NYX from boots)
A brown and black eye pencil (Bobby brown or NYX)
I have 4 go to eye shadows usually bronze/browns/nude because that's what I suit. (Using Anastasia Beverly Hills atm)
Face setting spray (urban decay)
2 lipsticks one a shade darker than my natural colour and a statement one.

I also use marks and Spencer's face tanning oil for the days i don't want to wear foundation.

If you are a person who does not habitually wear lots of make-up but wants an upgrade, I would not make a drastic switch to tons of make-up as you will not feel comfortable.

I am not someone who is comfortable with painting on a face but, particularly in the middle of winter, that not wearing anything made me look...tired. I find that a CC cream (I use Khiels as it is very light and has SPF), liquid blusher (Dr Perricone's No blusher Blusher), an eyebrow pencil (Chanel), a light lip colour (one of the Nars chubby lip pencils or their Organsm lipstick), a swipe of eyeliner, and an eyelash curler (Shu Uemera) is perfect for day wear - gives a natural polished look

For evening wear, I use Dr Perricone's No Makeup Makeup foundation serum, Nars powder, a bit of Nars Orgasm blusher, eyeliner, brow pencil, and a brighter lip colour.
