Mahabis slippers in administration

I wasn't surprised to read that Mahabis slippers are in administration, owing a couple of million pounds. The price point never made sense to me. £70 ish for slippers is difficult to justify regardless of your income.
Interesting that companies often declare bankruptcy straight after Christmas. Lots of recent sales, but refunds/exchanges not usually honoured.

One of the factors in the post Christmas bankcrupties will be supplier payments falling due ie scale up for Christmas on 60/90 credit terms, but don’t achieve sales of finished product/stock hence don’t have cash to pay suppliers. Also interest payments in commercial loans and sometimes rents are due 31/12 also leading to defaults/insufficient cash flows

might have worked as part of a fashion business but the whole firm was just the slippers?

They sell (sold) other things too - outdoor shoes, clothing, rucksacks & other lifestyle things. My nearly 80 year old mother looked everywhere for solid non slip slippers which aren't old ladyish after her hip replacement. They've been brilliant for her, so much so that I bought her an outdoor pair for Christmas. I already had some. I think they were brilliant.
