Too much sparkly?

Quick question, as I am currently coming down with a virus and I fear my judgement may be clouded as a result... I'm going out for NYE for the first time in years, and I was planning to wear a black dress with sparkly silver tights and a sparkly gold cardigan. Is that too much sparkly stuff? Would I be better off replacing either tights or cardy with something plain? I'm 39 and somewhat fat, if that makes a difference. Thanks in advance!

Na- go for it.

finnmcool · 31/12/2018 10:44

I'd go for plain tights and keep the cardigan, only because silver and gold sparkles might clash.

EdWinchester · 31/12/2018 10:46

Yes, too much.

I can’t imagine all of it together.

ErrolTheDragon · 31/12/2018 10:52

One or the other, sparkles on whichever part you'd rather emphasise.

GraceMarks · 31/12/2018 10:55

I think I'll keep the cardigan and switch to opaque black tights instead. However, I am now thinking of wearing metallic green shoes with the ensemble so clearly there is something about sparkle that appeals to my poor, sickness-addled brain. Hopefully everyone else will be too drunk to notice/care.

I think you need a sparkly dress too.

Look it's NYE what other time of the year other than Christmas Day can you sparkle as much as that? If you love it then that's all that matters ive found for me it's not really about if something matches or clashes anymore if I love it and feel confident I'm wearing it life's to short to worry about clashing etc

Bombardier25966 · 31/12/2018 11:04

Metallic green shoes sound awesome, but it does all sound a bit thrown together. Do you have an emerald green cardigan? That would look beautiful with the shoes.

GraceMarks · 31/12/2018 11:07

Bombardier25966 I don't, unfortunately, but I certainly wish I did. It can go on my shopping list for the sales.

It's only a pub I'm going to, so I'm not too worried about looking polished or coordinated, I was just slightly concerned that I would look like a mad fancy dress woman and everyone would laugh at me. I will go back to the black shoes and plain tights and keep the sparkle for my top half!

If you've still got your Xmas decorations up, how about nabbing a big of tinsel for use as a boa or 'tiara'?Grin

GraceMarks · 31/12/2018 11:53

Errol I have a pair of baubles which I have made into earrings. I only need a single glass of cava to persuade me that it's a good idea to put them on.
