Make up counters - Edinburgh city centre

TallulahMazda · 30/12/2018 13:20

I'm off to Edinburgh tomorrow and need a serious overhaul of makeup. I've a little money saved up to do so. Where is best? Don't want to be pushed into spending a fortune but need some professional guidance as not great with makeup and have made some shocking purchases in the past!
Any recommendations for city centre?

I've found the Bobbi Brown counter in Jenners to be good - had a make over there twice, there's another Bobbi Brown counter in John Lewis I think, but I've never bought from there. Clinique in Boots on Princes Street was good too, as were Clinique in Jenners. I've not been in Jenners since HoF had their financial troubles, I am assuming that all the counters are still there though. I've not had success in the Space NK on George Street or Mac Harvey Nichols where I tend to get ignored but then I'm not their demographic Grin. Happy shopping!

Thank you! I'm not the demographic of any of the 'posh' counters so fully expect to be ignored. I'll head up to Jenner's.

I’ve had great experiences in Space NK on George St - like that they’ll try lots of different brands on me, rather than a counter that’s just tied to one. Don’t go to John Lewis - there’s no natural light on the current beauty floor & I always end up looking tangoed.

Fab thank you. Don't suppose you know if you need to book with space nk?

Jenners has all the high end make up counters, urban decay, etc, and John Lewis in St James Centre has a good range too, I've found the Bobbi Brown counter there very friendly and helpful. They even gave a free sample for me to dry on my dd's dry skin.

Jenners is good but if you want Bobbi brown go to the store on George street. All the good staff from Jenners are in there now.

Harvey Nichols staff are the most friendly i've found, the girls at the Tom Ford counter were lovely and did my pal and I's make up for free.
