Uniqlo ultralight down jacket sizing

DM wants a Uniqlo ultralight down jacket fir her birthday in a couple of weeks.

I have only ever bought 1 pair of trousers from them, so I am not really that familiar with their sizing.

DM is a size 14, sometimes 16, but only 5”2’. What size should I get? I will need to order online as they do not have any shops anywhere near me. I’m wavering between L and XL.

I bought one recently, I'm a size 12 and got the Medium. It's a snug-ish fit, definitely not lots of extra room. I generated find Uniqlo sizing small, probably because it's Japanese! I hate clothes feeling too small so I'd suggest the XL.

I’m a 10 and bought a S. I thought they were quite doing actually - I could have squeezed into an XS but felt slightly tight across the bust. Mine was light down not ultra light though.

My DM just bought the ultralight down gilet. She's a 14-16 and was very surprised to have to buy an XXL! Maybe because she wanted to wear it over a light jumper but even so I'd say the size was slim.

I’m a 12 & sent back my medium for a small which fits perfectly.

I am 5” 2’ 32G 14 on top . L is a snug fit and XL is good for thicker jumpers underneath. If she is nudging 16 then XL .

I’m a size 20 with very big boobs and had to get a men’s one as I couldn’t get the largest ladies one fastened over my boobs.

I'm a 12-14, 5 foot 1, and I have two, one L and one XL. I find in the colder weathe with more or thicker layers, the XL is ok, plenty of room. For slightly less cold days and less layers, the L is good.

I would suggest the XL, but I do find the arms a bit long, but that is me, your mum may not.

Uniqlo sizing is extremely generous. I'm a standard high st size 8 and always get XS or XXS from Uniqlo (and I buy quite a bit from them, including down).

I’m only an inch taller and generally a size 16, but don’t like tight so often size up to an 18 for space, but I just bought a L in the new waterproof down one they are doing and it’s plenty big enough. However I bought my DD a L too and she’s 5’8 and a 10 on top but with enormous shoulders and it fits her well too, so maybe it just depends on your weight distribution. But I would say an L in the coat, even though I find their other things quite small fitting.

I'm a 14 or 16 but 5ft 8. I need the XL especially round the bust. Can you order L and XL and send back one?

Hi, thanks for all your experiences. I’ve ordered an L and an XL, I thought it was worth getting 2 and returning one, rather than risking them selling out in the sale.

I'm a 14-16 top half , I have a ULD jacket ( bought about 5 years ago) in the XL because the poppers were straining a bit in L (would be ok in L if I wanted to leave it open though)
Jumpers and tops I buy an L , could possibly get away with M in some sizes?

I tried on one of the parkas a while ago and even in Small with the lining in, it looked baggy but I suspect its more the style of coat?

They are made for a market of smaller framed smaller women. I feel Amazonian when I try things on , but no-one except me knows what size is on the label.
