Alternative to GHD curls (for the useless)

I love my hair when it has been curled with GHDs at the hairdressers, but I just can't get the hang of it. Please tell me there is a miracle tool for the uncoordinated that would give the same effect?

I can’t do it either. Well, I can, but it only lasts about 20 mins!

I'm useless at doing my hair, but I got a Dyson Airwrap for Christmas and it's ace! The curls I did on Tuesday lasted until this morning. It's really expensive though.

I so want the Dyson... if it works for me, I can probably justify the price...

If i don't eat this month 🤣

There was another thread on this recently. A poster linked a YouTube video of an easy method for doing curls with a straighting iron where you wrap the hair around and pull it through.

Said it was a game changer as she'd never been able to do it before.

I've got the dyson hair dryer and looked at the air wrap but tbh the reviews seem a bit mixed. Sounds like your hair has to be the right dampness etc for the curl to hold and it's not exactly a speedy process.

I'll see if I can find that video for you.

Found it....

Thisismyhappyface · 27/12/2018 21:07

Will have a go at that tomorrow. I just want good hair with minimal effort!

Know the feeling :-)

Best thing I ever bought was my babyliss ceramic rollers, they are totally foolproof

Thisismyhappyface · 27/12/2018 22:17

Which ones Darwin?

Mine are probably 12 years old but they are pretty similar to these ones.

Thanks! Have ordered some, so fingers crossed they work for me!

Dh bought me these for my birthday yesterday. The whole metal part heats up so easier to curl. And also good as straighteners too.

Childrenofthesun · 29/12/2018 08:49

I've never been able to do them. I saw that video link last week and her method didn't work for me either. O find the only things that work are heated rollers or a wand that you wrap the hair around. The rollers are far easier but don't give the same effect as a wand.

Polkadotdelight · 29/12/2018 18:21

I bought a wand before Christmas and I love it. I could never get to grips with tongs, curlers or using straighteners to curl but the wand is stupidly easy.
