Glittery DM's..any tips for wearing them in?

I've succumbed to the lure of the glittery Doc Marten. Any tips on wearing them in?

Thick socks?
Mine feel a bit tough but they aren't blistering!
Don't lace them too tightly either.
I LOVE mine!
