Any suggestions welcome. We live by the beach/forest so my decent outdoor walking shoes aren't going to cut it for Jan/Feb.

Hoping to catch a bargain in the sales, all recommendations gratefully received Smile

Dunlop wellies

Veronicat · 26/12/2018 18:25

I love my short Dubarry Roscommon boots. I pretty much live in them. I also have Dublin Rivers.

Luckingfovely · 26/12/2018 18:34

Aigle neoprene wellies.

Personally I can't walk in Dubarry boots as they have so little support round the ankle.

Villanelley · 26/12/2018 18:40

Le Chameau wellies are the only ones I can comfortably walk in for any distance.

Whatsnewwithyou · 26/12/2018 18:43

Ecco boots, I've had mine for years and they still look great, very comfortably too.

FlashByReputation · 26/12/2018 18:43

Tall muck boots are fantastic

KeepCalm · 26/12/2018 18:45

Ooh lots of options.

Are the tall muck boots quite wide @NicoAndTheNiners? I've a belting pair of string legs/calf muscles Confused

These boots are all so expensive! Can you get decent warm waterproof ones for less ?

KeepCalm · 26/12/2018 19:34

@Skinfulnappies46 I believe Dunlop's with a nice cosy lining is the most reasonable....

Thanks keepcalm..will investigate these. I only walk my dogs 2-3 miles bit it can get quite mucky and wet. I usually just wear trainers but they are destroyed with the wet and muck plus the get my feet wet ...

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 26/12/2018 19:42

Years of trial and error-

I have tried most wellingtons including muck boots and none of them last. I suppose it depends on where you are walking but I own a spaniel so pretty much always off the path and through the undergrowth! I have found that goretex Salomon boots are the only thing that has proved leak proof! Plus the grips are amazing.

My husband just wears leaky wellies with waterproof socks.

FlashByReputation · 26/12/2018 20:07

I have skinny calves so wellies usually gape on my legs. My muck boots are neoprene and stretchy on the leg but I would try before you buy.

BikeRunSki · 26/12/2018 20:11

Dunlop wellies and long wool socks.,

KeepCalm · 26/12/2018 20:25

@ChessIsASport two sprockers here so I imagine a lot of time in the undergrowth too Xmas Grin

As a fellow sprocker owner who walks 10k with her through muddy fields and woods I wear leather boots. Can't be doing with wellies. The boots have never leaked. And are so comfy, grip is fantastic. Had them 18 months and when I clean the mud off and polish they look like new.

ChessIsASport · 26/12/2018 21:36

We also have a Sprocker! They are obviously walking us all so much that they are wearing our boots out!

KeepCalm · 27/12/2018 23:42

Lol mine are too little @ChessIsASport but I'm anticipating some long walks soon...

Dunlop wellies 100%. With a thick pair of socks underneath/2 pairs.
