What can i wear with a leather jacket?

I am a fairly slim 40 year old with no boobs and quite wide shoulders. My partner got me a black biker style ish leather jacket for Christmas ( my idea- midlife crisis i think ) I am now trying to update my tired wardrobe and looking for outfits that would go with my new jacket. What works, what does not etc. Any ideas would be gratfully received thanks.

I'm struggling to think of something that doesn't go with a leather jacket. They're very versatile.

What do you usually like to wear? I am a big fan of bikers over midi dresses, or midi skirts and jumpers. Also goes with jeans and tops and boots / trainers for school run / heels for night out.

Thanks, i am usually a skinny jeans and boots person. After all these years i am just finding my style and getting comfortable with my look and who i am. Looking into skater style dresses but not sure if they will suit me. So will have to experiment with some looks. Glad to know i cant really go wrong.

If you would like ideas for items to look out for I’d suggest looking up outfits on Pinterest or google images and make a note of what appeals to you, and make up a capsule wardrobe shopping list from there.

I wear denim, coloured jeans, leggings and long shirts/jumpers/tunics, dresses and skirts. Ankle boots, biker boots, knee length boots, over the knee boots, trainers, court shoes, brogues, heeled brogues.

Big fluffy scarf, thinner cashmere scarf, cotton scarf, wool/silk mix patterned scarf, berets, beanies, pom-pom hat.

Anything goes, really!

The only thing I won't wear with a leather jacket is a pair of coated jeans. It just looks a bit too Lost Boys. But other than that, pretty much anything and everything.

Black cashmere or fine knit high neck jumper and skinny jeans/ trainers or brogues or Breton top and jeans

I’m no style guru but I love wearing my leather jacket with pretty much everything.
Jeans jumper trainers for the school run.
Midi dress and boots for a Christmas lunch out with friends
Or over a boring little black dress for a works Christmas do!
I think you can’t go too far wrong, particularly with a classic biker style!

I think a trip to the shops is called for and a bit of nerve to try something different, i want to wear a few more dresses and skirts as mostly in jeans. Lots of ideas and encouragment, thank you all

Oh I very nearly double leathered the other day! Have a leather midi skirt and nearly slung on the biker jacket on the way out - just realized in the nick of time.

This led to a conversation about if double denim was a 'Texas tuxedo' then what was double leather? Concluded it was a 'gimp tuxedo' 😳

anyway back to the point OP if you want specific ideas there are loads of insta bloggers like 40 plus not giving up yet, who show how they wear current purchases - that lady in particular has a lot of biker jackets. H and m also have a lot of good midi dresses at the moment.

I'm approaching 40 and slim, small boobs etc like you. My leather biker looks good with pretty much anything, but my favourite look is putting it over a girly floral dress in warmer weather.

I have a fake leather skirt and thought the jacket too might be a bit too much . I will look up the blogger, thank you too all for your advice and helping me be a bit more confident in my new present 🎁😀

I think my biker goes with more clothes than any other jacket. I just have issues with which bag and shoes to wear. Never know if I should match the leather colour or go as far away as possible. My preference is as far away as possible. So ponyskin or suede shoes in very different colours good but a burgundy bag with a black jacket bad.
