Hello, I’ve recently been diagnosed as a burnished winter and I wondering if any of you would like to share your fav style or beauty buys with me...
what are your best lipsticks? Blusher? Jumpers? Accessories? Anything that makes a difference?

Jewel winter here

CalmConfident · 30/12/2018 15:26

Cadbury purple sounds amazing!

What2donow4 · 30/12/2018 15:27

Have you tried House of Colour's makeup? I bought a couple of lipsticks when I had my consultation but I have been browsing their website looking at blushers there.
I'm a jewel winter, but prefer the more subdued colours like burgundy. I haven't found any examples of a jewel winter with my colouring - pale skin with some freckles, blue eyes, blonde hair - but I think I could see it during my session and do look better in black, white and bright jewel colours.

abc12345 · 30/12/2018 15:34

I’ve been considering buying the lipsticks they tried on me but they were bright pink, bright red and dark burgundy. I could see they suited me but I’ve never warn lip stick so I think I need something a little less full on to begin with!

Can anyone send me the Facebook link? I can’t find the group!

I bought a burgundy and bright red lipstick. I have only braved the red one twice and although everyone said it looked great I'm not confident enough. I wear the burgundy for going out, but bought a Revlon one suggested on another thread here for everyday as it's far less obvious.

abc12345 · 30/12/2018 15:41

Do you know which colour it is?

It was a Revlon Lip Butter - Raspberry Pie, Berry Smoothie or Candy Apple . I can't remember which and the label has rubbed off. But searching looks like Revlon might not make it anymore.

Oatomatom · 30/12/2018 16:50

My ‘neutral’ recommended lipstick was the berry (718, it even says good for scared winters!) from House of Colour, with the blackberry lip pencil. The one that I was recommended as being brighter was the 54 (damson), but that’s a bit too much for me!

Not sure how to do a Facebook link, but it's #hocwinter

Just a quick update (in case anyone is interested!)...
I’ve just received my Mac make up

  • a hint of plumb blush - lovely
  • mehr Matt lipstick - love it, definitely feel comfortable with wearing it all day
  • plumbfoolery lipstick - really nice, slightly darker

They all definitely suit my colouring. (Even I can tell!) thanks for your recommendations

Brillant, we like to see feedback Smile

Burnished winter here - and yes apparently we are quite rare. I went with a friend to my session and it was immediately obvious she was an Autumn. I on the other hand took ages to 'diagnose' but when the burgundy lipstick (which is actually more of a deep raspberry) went on it was a revelation.

I wear a lot of lipsticks that I would've considered bright or dark before. I'll pop back and list them later on.

I also have a deep pink blusher from Kiko that looks mad bright in the compact but a light dusting is perfect. I think there's a HoC blusher especially for burnished winters too. I'm fancying trying a plum blusher too.

CraftyYankee · 04/01/2019 13:28

Bright winter here. I never wore red lipstick but when I wear the HOC one I get tons of compliments! I think most consultants do a makeup specific session, maybe ask about that?

drdoalot · 04/01/2019 13:31

Why do people say diagnose for colour decisions? It sounds strange.

Napoleon66 · 04/01/2019 13:44

Happy NY everyone,
I'm a HoC jewel winter too. Re getting rid of reddish/orangey tones in brown hair, I've bought, but not yet tried, Charles Worthington toning blue conditioner which is supposed to get rid of warm tones. Has anyone tried it and did it work?

WinterWendy · 04/01/2019 14:00

Re. diagnose - yes sounds odd hence the inverted commas!

Re. Charles Worthington I've tried the blue shampoo and not seen any really noticeable effect after three washes. Nothing that couldn't just be down to lighting being different and/or wishful thinking. It is also VERY VERY blue and necessitates wearing gloves (unless you want grey hands eek!) which is a bit of a faff.

WonderWoman2019 · 04/01/2019 14:09

Deep winter (Anne Hathaway colouring) here joining the team. Monica Bellucci and Penelope Cruz also with us Smile

Uhohmummy · 04/01/2019 15:38

Quick question for burnished winters - what colour are your eyes and natural hair?

abc12345 · 05/01/2019 11:27

Thanks ladies.

Can anyone reccomend a nice burgundy lipstick for me?

I love this look and going out tonight...
