Backless wedding dress underwear

Hi all, I’m not sure if this would be better in weddings but thought I’d try here. I’ve just bought my wedding dress and it has a sheer back. I’m looking for a supportive bra/bustier with a super low back, and wondered if anyone had any recommendations for bras you’ve used with low/backless dresses? I’m a 34C and the dress is quite structured at the top so my boobs definitely need to be supported properly so they sit in the right place. I have once used just a stick on bra but did not feel comfortable or confident in its stickiness, or that supported tbh.

I found one on Pinterest that looked low enough but the reviews said it was useless support-wise. At the moment the others I’ve seen don’t look low enough - but it’s hard to tell online so if anyone could recommend any actual shops to try stuff on that would also be fab - I will be London-based.

Thanks in advance!

C cup isn’t huge, is that definitely the right size ? I’m a DD and would go braless

Maverick66 · 26/12/2018 23:08

Hi op,

You could get a dressmaker to fit 'cups' into your dress.
Alternatively Debenhams have a bra converter. It means you can wear a normal bra and convert it to low back.

Boux avenue are great for bras. Very knowledgeable and friendly. I went there and got a low back converter for my wedding dress.

Ginandsonicscrewdriver · 26/12/2018 23:18

I tried low back converters for a wedding and they were terrible. Have a look at low back bodies - is it strapless too?

Ruibies · 27/12/2018 03:33

Thanks everyone, sorry for the silence over Christmas!

I think I definitely need a bra - I just wouldn't feel comfortable going braless, unless I can get cups sewn in that give some support, thanks for this suggestion!

I will also have a look at Boux Avenue and the low back converters - thanks! The dress is not strapless, it's boat necked so something like the attached image could possibly work. I found it on Pinterest, but it's sometimes hard to track down the actual retailer from the pins, so recommendations are really useful.

Thanks for all the advice, and hope everyone had a good Christmas!

I’m also on the hunt for something like that picture! I’ll let you know if I find anything good.

inchoccyheaven · 27/12/2018 11:54

I wore the ultimo low back strapless bra under my dress.

TillyVonMilly · 27/12/2018 12:11

Is this any good from ASOS?

Ginandsonicscrewdriver · 27/12/2018 18:12

www.enderlegard.com/collections/backless

Here’s the one you posted

Ginandsonicscrewdriver · 27/12/2018 18:14

(It’s £250 or so, I think for that price you could get something just as functional)

Ruibies · 31/12/2018 03:09

@Ginandsonicscrewdriver Woowww I did not anticipate spending £250 on underwear Shock thank you for tracking it down though!

@TillyVonMilly The Asos option looks amazing! It's a much more reasonable ~£30 so I think I will order it and see how I go at the first fitting - can always panic buy the expensive on at the last minute if needed Grin

Thanks again everyone!

Ultimo is your friend. They do all kids of underwear for tricky dresses.

Superpooper · 31/12/2018 17:21

Yeah I couldn’t believe the cost of it either! I guess good underwear is important to make sure a dress sits properly but even so!

moreismore · 31/12/2018 17:24

I would imagine they’ll offer to add cups at your fitting, that would be the easiest

UncomfortableBadger · 31/12/2018 17:55

Honestly, just get the cups sewn into your dress by your seamstress. I’m a G cup and thought I couldn’t manage without a proper bra - I was wrong! Cost virtually nothing and was super comfy on the day.

1Wanda1 · 01/01/2019 09:05

I had this problem a year ago. My dress couldn't take sewn in cups. After much research I ended up shelling out for the Ender Legard. There just wasn't anything else on the market in my size. I am. 32F but in the EL think I ended up with a 34 back. The lady whose business it is was really helpful - I tried a couple before I found the right one.

It was good on the day.

DoneAdulting · 01/01/2019 09:28

I also wore the Ultimo low back strapless under my wedding dress which had a lace back. Highly recommend, I'm a DD cup and it doesn't budge.
