Long hair advice please

I have long thick hair (a few inches off waist length). I’m really bored of it at the moment - I like the length but I think I want it cut differently. What sort of styles could I ask for to change things up a bit but still keep the length? Or are my options just limited to long layers (which I currently have). Any ideas would be very welcome - I’m getting my hair cut tomorrow and have no idea what I’m going to ask for

Betty bangs? Aka a short chunky fridge. I think this looks really cool but it may depend on your overall style?

I love fringes but I have quite a round face so really wouldn’t suit me. I did ask for a centre part fringe once like in the pic below but the hairdresser said it would look right with long hair. Anyone got any thoughts on that? I couldn’t see the problem but then I’m far from an expert

Hope the link works....

Yesssss I love those long, Bardot style bangs. They look lovely with long hair and are quite versatile too (namely that you can choose to not wear them as a fringe when you don’t want to)

I know it isn’t what you asked, but chop it all off, seriously. Best thing I ever did!

You could start off looking at the difference between u-cuts and v-cuts.

From therein there are lots of variations that will let you vary the styling.

Pinterest has a wealth of pics but here’s an articlewith lots of pics to get you started.

I really like 11, 25, 30, 31, 35 and 41. 11, 30, 31 could really work with Bardot bangs. You’d just have to be careful you didn’t end up with a long Rachel.

Kittenesque oh my goodness this is so so helpful thank you very much! I really love a lot of these Smile

Wereyouherewheniwasfox - oh god no I couldn’t! My hair started growing really quickly while pregnant and it’s never been this long and healthy before - it’s too soon to say goodbye yet. Or I could be making excuses because I definitely can’t pull off short hair....

I think for most people shoulder length hair is most flattering.
I used to have really long hair but never did anything with it and it just hung there- I look back on photos and see a slight resemblance to Neil from the young ones !!
I've got really thick hair so always go for layers or feathering and a flash of colour

messyhousetidymind · 22/12/2018 10:26

Oh kitten those pics really make me want long hair again.

Think long centre part fringes look good with long hair its not unusual to see this with bra-strap length straight Shoulder length hair

I'd keep the length get a good cut (V?) and if your bored get some balayage.

If you're not keen then get a centre fri he and cut to bra strap length

messyhousetidymind · 22/12/2018 10:27

*centre part fringe not fri he 🙄

Hair looks great - thanks again kitten those pictures were very helpful and I got a centre part fringe! It’s lovely so glad I went for it not sure why I’ve been persuaded not to go for it in the past
