I have really benefitted from the evidence based, informative information about skin from online dermatologists like this.

My hair could do with some love too. Does anyone know of a similar/equivalent for hair?

Technically hair falls under dermatology and I think both have done videos on it but likely focusing on hair loss.

There isn't that much difference between skin care and maintaining a healthy scalp. BHA is the active ingredient in most anti dandruff shampoos, minoxidil is the equivalent miracle drug of tretinoin for hair loss, gentle cleansing rather than harsh, less is more, etc. I'm a big fan of acid rinses as I'm in a hard water area and I have used my facial oil cleanser on my hair on occasion as it was gentler than shampoo when my scalp was irritated.

There is a Reddit sub called HaircareScience that is evidence based although mainly focuses on hair loss management. The sidebar should make for good reading (usually only visible in desktop mode).

I'm a bit wary of the natural haircare movement on YouTube as it seems to be selective citing and self appointed expertise but I'm sure among them there probably are some that know what they're talking about.

If you find anyone of interest please report back, I've been meaning to delve into it but whilst similar to skincare it's also slightly more complex in ways and there is less accessible reading out there, even within dermatology it's very niche.

You could try just putting the word “trichologist” into the YouTube search and seeing what that comes up with.Might be very focussed on preventing hair loss rather than just promoting good hair health/appearance/growth though.

There is a long hair forum populated by Rapunzels ladies who can stand on their hair. They have lots of great tips, and if anyone would know about a YouTube guru trichologist or hair care specialistit would be them. Long Hair Community
