Why is one of my cheeks like this? (Pic)

See attached pic!

My right cheek has been like this for about a year. Spotty, red and white skin, blotchy.

The other cheek is fine.

I do get spots but this area in particular seems very bad and I can't work it out. I don't sleep just on this side or anything, and my hair doesn't touch my face.

I've tried loads of different products and am at a loss Sad

Do you sleep on that side?

MoltonSilver · 18/12/2018 12:47

That happens to me if I sleep on a synthetic fabric pillowcase. I need a smooth 100% cotton.

umpteennamechanges · 18/12/2018 13:13

Could it be rosacea?

RiskIt4Biscuit · 18/12/2018 13:14

Do you touch your face more on that side? Resting your head on your hand more on that side?

Could it be rosacea?

Do you hold your phone on that side? They usually need a good clean.

octopusrus · 18/12/2018 14:56

I switched to a silk pillowcase to see if it made a difference and it didn't (also don't particularly sleep on that side and other pillowcases are 100% cotton.

Don't use phone for calling regularly, and I don't think it really touches my face when I do?

I looked up roseacea a while ago but thought it looked different - could it be then? And do you sometimes just get it on one side?

I had a rash all over my face, tried so many products but this was the one to clear it up, it's miraculous stuff

I’ve had rosacea. It looks a bit like that and yes it can be worse on one side. Rosex prescribed from the gp sorted it for me and I keep it at bay with avene products. Worth a go.

JaneJeffer · 18/12/2018 15:38

Do you stand waiting for a bus? I found that one side of my face was getting weather beaten because the prevailing wind was on that side!

octopusrus · 18/12/2018 20:17

Thanks so much for the product tips! I'll def look into Rosacea a bit more then.

No don't wait for a bus, but over the summer I wondered if it was uv damage through the car window, not that I'm in the car that much either!!

pinkgrand did you use the cream in place of your usual moisturiser? Or on top/underneath?

I have thought about going to the GP but thought they might be annoyed at me going for something cosmetic...?

pinkground I mean!

Just a quick update to say thank you to all those who suggested I look into Rosacea - I bought some prescription Rosex cream online for £25 (didn't want to trouble the doctor with a skin problem) and after a couple of weeks it's much improved!
