Im mid brown and cannot afford to get it professionally done but i am booked in for a cut and blow dry tomorrow. Whats a good brand that i can either get from Savers or Boots. Its just for my greys and can be a wash out as i get paid Friday! Do you generaly stick to your real colour?

Nice and Easy semi permanent colours are nice, although they don't completely wash out. I used to be naturally dark brown and would use all sorts of colours, with reds, purple, etc.

There's a Poundland brand that's really good. Same as any other.

Have a look if your hairdresser or college has model evenings. They're usually really cheap or free but will be supervised and professionally done. Once you start dying with box dyes it's very difficult to remove them or go back!

I use olia. They do it in boots, Sainsburys and other places.

ViragoKnows · 18/12/2018 19:19

Do you mean you're dying it temporarily just so the hairdresser doesn't see the greys?

Ive only ever used box dyes...i have naturally dark brown hair but its starting to go really grey....i usually use a medium brown otherwise it tends to be a bit dark.

Nice and easy 24 wash. Used it for years on my auburn, now greying hair. Always go a shade lighter than my own, sometimes a mid brown, sometimes a bit more red but still mid not dark

Use a semi permanent cant remember the brand I use. Argh. Purple and white box if that helps?

BobbyBanana · 18/12/2018 21:24

I use a semi permanent in mid brown as semis don't wash out to orange and they don't damage your hair.

Use half the box every 3 weeks on your roots.

It costs me around £6 a month
