Same top but looks different

I bought exactly the same top, same size etc in a shop online in different colours and I'm sure one accentuates my flabby tummy and the other doesn't! Or I don't know if I'm telling myself that as i prefer one of the colours. One is navy and One is dark green so not like it's black versus white.

Well they will look different if they are different colours..Confused

whambamthankyou · 18/12/2018 09:11

Um you've missed the point.

BlueUggs · 18/12/2018 09:14

What IS the point?!

SoyDora · 18/12/2018 09:16

Fairly normal for different colours to accentuate your body differently.

TheRealHousewifeofCheshire · 18/12/2018 09:16

Same top. Different colours. Fit differently. I think the point is although they're different colours the fit doesnt seem the same.

hopingforhappiness · 18/12/2018 09:20

I've experienced this in the past, it IS possible.
As a result my job, I've discovered that the same garment can be made in two different factories and from two different fabrics. It's even possible that they have been made in two entirely different countries!
In addition, if a manufacturer runs out of size labels they sometimes use labels showing a different size. I've seen garments in a size 12 with a size 16 label sewn in.

I didn't realise this as both are dark colours.

The point IS: one appears to accentuate my tummy and the other doesn't. I didn't know if I'm imagining it or not.

As we can’t see the item we have no idea if it’s your imagination or not. Take a photo in each and post them up if you want an opinion

whambamthankyou · 18/12/2018 10:16

Jeez...i was just asking if it's possible. I assume you're all having bad days and will leave you to it.

I doubt you're imagining it. They probably are different. In some shops I try on 2 or 3 of the same item in the same size to find the one that fits best. They are all slightly different as quality control isnt always great.

Housewife2010 · 18/12/2018 10:22

Sizes can vary between shades. Probably due to poor quality control in the factories. I have several long sleeved plain t shirts from M&S. I bought them all the same time. I had to take the black one back as it was snugger than the other shades.

Neverunderfed · 18/12/2018 10:49

Quite often different colours are made in different factories...does the fabric feel identical?

Anjelika · 18/12/2018 11:23

I have 2 Boden tops in the same style but different colours - both fit differently. Same for 2 M&S tops and same again for 2 Boden dresses.

BringMeTea · 18/12/2018 16:47

Have you placed them on top of each other to check they are the same size? However, yes, colour can make a huge difference, hence most people preferring and lbd to a lwd.

SomethingAboutNothing · 18/12/2018 17:02

Definitely possible for two tops the same size and style to be completely different fit. I got a pair of jeans from Next in my usual size and they are about 2 inches shorter than the others I have at home. Very irritating.

SantasBassoon · 18/12/2018 17:06

I think darker dyes shrink fabrics more. I know when I've bought two bras the same but one is black and the other isn't the black one is always a bit tighter, and also when I've bought a couple of pairs of the same jeans the black ones are tighter.

motortroll · 18/12/2018 17:15

This happens to me loads, so frustrating! I has 2 pairs of maternity jeans in snake size and diff colours but I think that may have been down to different denims, I do also have 2 tops same style size and diff colours and one is shorter than the others!!

I think it's inconsistencies with the manufacturing.

halfwitpicker · 18/12/2018 19:16

Same happened here.

Bought 3 pairs of identical jeans - they all fit different.

Lucked · 18/12/2018 23:19

Lie them on top of each other - are they are exactly the same size? When they cut multiple layers of fabric at once it is not unusual for the lower layers to be larger so varied sizes are common with mass produced clothes.
