Boho in Autumn/Winter - ideas please!

Anyone out there dress boho chic or slightly boho? Boho was great for summer - dresses, gladiator sandals, crochet cardigans, flowing skirts etc but now it's winter how do you keep a bit of an upmarket boho vibe and not freeze?

I like to mix bohomenian-style pieces with smart casual stuff. So, I'd wear a beaded or crotchet top but id wear it with skinny jeans rather than bell bottoms or anything full-on like that. I don't want to look like a 70's throwback just nodding to the style in general if you see what I mean?

So any semi-boho ladies out there who can help with Autumn/Winter style ideas? Thanks in advance!

Fedora, maxi skirts/dresses with tights and boots underneath, slouchy knits. Chunky cardigan open with a nice flowy blouse or cami and layered necklaces underneath.

Thanks Olivecake

I love flowing maxi skirts and dresses in summer and I've recently realised I can do it in winter too - with tights and boots, and a jumper or cardie on top. I also recently made a long skirt out of an old jumper dress, so it's like a long jumper skirt (you can also buy these), I love it, it looks both a bit posh and a bit quirky with winter boots, and a jumper, blouse or fashiony sweatshirt on top.

Can you link to any examples of this please NotAColdWomanHenry?

I googled maxi in winter and found a few nice blog posts with pics - here’s one: dress like a Parisian

here’s a knitted wool maxi skirt similar to mine, but posher! I just bought a plain straight knee-length jumper dress off eBay, cut off the arms and top, and added a waistband made of stretch cuffing like this

I’ve been wearing things like this with long floor length coats and boots. Can’t get enough of maxi dresses this winter!

maxi in winter is lunacy unless you never step foot outside! midi skirts plus furry boots and a faint soviet/military vibe works for me. not strictly boho, but a million times more practical :)

AutumnShades · 18/12/2018 17:32

Thanks for those posts! How do you mix soviet/military with boho? Sounds interesting and eclectic

lots of buttons - double breasted coat, buttoned boots - and a touch of fur - pillbox hat, trimmed gloves/boots...

Maxi dresses with a short cowboy/western boot can look very bohemian, (good quality e.g. Penelope Chilvers or Russell and Bromley); alternatively a velvet boot in a kind of Victorian style could look great with a maxi dress and a really gorgeous shaggy fur jacket, or military style coat. Sort of Stevie Nicks or Anita Pallenberg-ish. Vintage stuff is always worth exploring for bargain alternatives.

I like how Kate Moss has paired her boots with a dress for an evening look.
I’m quite boho in the summer eh loose dresses & gladiators largely because I find it comfortable & flattering for my shape. In winter I tend to go a bit more boyish (?), skinny jeans, baggy jumper & hiking boots but I like a big scarf. I also like a bit of faux fur with boyfriend jeans & trainers.

I bought a couple of 70s-esque midi dresses that I've been wearing with heeled ankle boots and either a biker jacket (plus a thermal t underneath the dress) or with a longish military style coat.

Skyejuly · 18/12/2018 20:20

I wear leggings underneath. I just layer everything and add a chunky necklace!

Funky A line skirts, little cardigans, quirky knee length dresses with wedge DMs/Fly boots.
