Hi!
I'm going to be spending Christmas day hosting a large group including a man I'm in a very new relationship with.
I'd bought a stunning dress on eBay but now it's just too much ( green sequins, I'll try and wear it to one of many parties next week)
Anyway, it now means I have nothing to wear for the day.
I want to look not too try hard but at the same form a bit special.
My very much younger sister will be with us too and she's super glam, very sexy and will pull out all the stops.
I don't want to be overdone, we have very different style but I also don't want to be frumpy mum/cook/frazzled host.
My shape is very tricky to dress.
I'm out of shape due to disability so...
I'm five feet tall, very curvy, big bum, unpretty large tummy, beefy upper arms, broad shoulders...
Had my colours done so am a warm autumn. I have broad shoulders and v neck style suits me best.
I'm about 9.5 stone which is a lot for my height. I should be a twelve but I'm slim boned so mostly wear tens as many twelves swamp me. So it needs to be a forgiving ten!
A dress would be nice but a gorgeous top would do as I have many many skirts and jeans!
I have a Christmas sweater but it's very blokey and I've already worn it to death!
Hopefully not a lost cause?!
Any ideas gratefully received!

Velvet dress or top? Sexy/xmassy but less OTT than sequins?

dragonflyflew · 16/12/2018 22:23

I love velvet, saw a lovely dress in urban outfitters but I fear my belly makes me look seven months pregnant already. The addition of velvet will just enhance it Confused

If you're hosting, won't you burn up in a cashmere cardigan?!? I always find I become quite warm from bustling around, in and out of the kitchen, keeping drinks topped up, etc. Maybe it's just me...? (I'm not even menopausal yet!)

dragonflyflew · 16/12/2018 23:01

AnotherRoadsideAttraction yes I'll be sweating my cobs off in the kitchen plus trying to look serene AND sexy whilst simultaneously single parenting my two little crotchfruits Xmas Grin
Maybe I should admit defeat now...

Crotchfruits!!! 😂

You need breathable 100% cotton in a soft, sexy cut that makes New Guy want to cuddle you. Basically, you need The Holy Grail of Holiday Outfits.

dragonflyflew · 16/12/2018 23:27

AnotherRoadsideAttraction yes! The holy grail! When you find it hold it close to your heart!
I can't claim #crotchfruit as mine but I like it!
