Weight gain + Xmas do: does this look classy or frumpy?

Do is a dinner/party at a posh hotel.

Have been eating like a bastard for the last few months and have gained a fair whack. Don't feel happy but also don't see the point in starting a health kick at this point in the year. Going to do low carb + loads of water this week to minimise the gut. Every little helps 🤷.

Does this look ok? Or do I look like an embellished barrel?

Will be going quite old school glam with the hair and makeup and I have a big sparkly necklace to go with it as well.

Thanks so much everyone. You've really boosted my confidence when it was pretty low. Am still going to try and get back to my 'happy' weight come new year but I feel like I can go to the do this weekend and feel confident and sexy now.

Muddy I bought the dress from eBay and the labels were removed so I've no idea where it's from, sorry .

Yes! So many of them recently. OP looks like a large 10 at the most, she looks absolutely fantastic and I don’t know how she can seriously be concerned about how she looks.

Carol even really gorgeous people can feel insecure - we are all under dreadful societal pressure to look good and we can all be hyper critical of ourselves.

Carol I can see why you might think that but I can assure you it's not the case.

I'm a good stone and half heavier than I was at the start of the year and I dont feel comfortable. I was in tears last week after trying on all my usual go-to dresses and none of them zipped up. I wanted an honest opinion on how this dress looked because it's one of the only dresses I currently own that fits me (It's a 14 btw). The kind responses have made me feel much better about myself and about going to the party. I wish my life and my self-worth weren't so heavily dictated by my weight but they are and that's something I need to work on.
