Washing cashmere sweaters

Can I please have some advice so I don't ruin more jumpers?

How do you wash your cashmere jumpers? And how frequently? I have some new-ish ones which I've worn a few times and they probably need a wash now. I usually shrink them or they go bobbly. What's the best way to avoid this? I've heard you can put them on the top shelf of the dishwasher Confused, but I'm quite tempted just to febreeze them!
Any better suggestions?

Thanks for all the suggestions. I washed them on a wool cycle with woolite at 20°C on a 600 spin, then dried them on coat hangers in the airing cupboard. They came out ok. There's some bobbling, but nothing I can't fix.

Thanks again.

wool cycle
cold temp no spin
use a wool detergent (or a tablespoon shampoo)
when washed lay between 2 large towels and roll up like a sausage to gently squeeze out water.
then lay flat to dry.

Handwash in warm water with a squeeze of baby shampoo.
Pop in the sink and leave it alone !
No rubbing or agitation.
Rinse at same temp.
Gently roll in a towel and dry flat.

Never store unwashed items in your wardrobe -why would you put "dirty" clothes into your wardrobe ?

Wash and store in moth proof bags between wears.
