Foundation colour....

I'm fairish skinned, with freckles, although not hugely obvious, not as much now as I've got older! I switch between using a tinted bb cream & Loreal's Infallible Total Cover Foundation - I only ever use a small amount as a little goes a long way & I don't like a heavy foundation. The thing is I was using the shade natural rose & I seemed to looked ghostly pale, so I got light sand nude thinking it was slightly darker, it wasn't it was much paler! So I got radiant beige, to my relief it wasn't orange, but still makes me look pale, like I haven't got any colour or any make up on!

I'd like to stick with this foundation as I've tried some others & my skin hasn't liked them! I don't want to look orange or falsely tanned, but I don't want to look like I'm ill either! So I've looked at darker shades which would be golden sand or golden beige, Im thinking if I do try one & it is a bit too dark or orangey I could mix it with one of my lighter shades. Anyone tried these shades?
