Where to buy diamond earrings?

I've wanted a pair of diamond stud earrings for years and am now lucky enough to be able to afford some. I haven't got the first clue about where to buy them. I don't want to be ripped off and don't mind if they are second hand. I also don't mind waiting until the sales if that would make difference. Any advice please?

Auction. The problem with diamonds in jewelry shops is that they have make ups of around 80-90% so even when they are on sale you probably won't be getting a good deal. Have a look at your local auction houses.
