Does anyone wear wide legged trouser suits at work anymore?

I'm returning to work after a 8 year gap and have dug out all my old work clothes. All the trousers have ridiculously wide legs and a lot are very wide boot legged. They just look out of date to me but obviously I haven't seen people inside an office for some time and it may just be because I live in skinny jeans at the moment! Is my instinct right that these are totally outdated? Thanks!

Oh, and also really long trousers covering shoes rather than ankle length. Again, maybe due to skinny jeans I would expect more ankle length trouser now.

Nope, I went back after maternity leave too and everyone now wears slightly cropped fitted or tapered trousers. I had to buy pop socks for my chilly ankles.

Thanks Kenandbarbie. Yes, I can imagine I am going to have chilly ankles! I'm going to try and attack a couple of pairs of trousers on the sewing machine but will definitely have to get a new suit I think. Will start a different thread on that!

Whistles have them in this year. I think you’d have to wear white trainers.

Not trouser suits, but lots of wide-legged trousers in my work place, including bootlegged (to go with the whole 70s thing this autumn). I have some bootlegged cords myself I wear for work (from Topshop, so they must be on trend Grin). My style guru, midlifechic, says that skinny trousers are out and wide-legged is where it's at. I have to say I still see plenty of people in skinnies though. And maybe trouser suits are different from plain trousers. But I have happily embraced bootlegs again because they give me curves that I lack.

Well, I wear wide-legged, straight-legged and bootcut trousers for work, all full-length, and nobody has pointed and laughed at me yet. I think those wide-legged cropped things that were everywhere over the summer are ludicrous - I've yet to see anyone who looked good in them, regardless of their age and shape. And yes, in winter, what are you supposed to do with that couple of inches of bare ankle?

I think it would be fine to wear what you've got, but find some decent shoes to team them with. For example, I do think wearing ankle boots with bootcut trousers looks rather dated, but a pair of smart trainers or brogues would be OK.

The trouser suits I’ve seen have mostly been with slim (but not skinny) trews. However there are plenty of wide legs round here, although more likely to be wide & straight than wide n’ boot cut. Personally I like an 80s wideleg shape - tapering towards the ankle, especially in winter as they’re warmer and don’t flap in the rain.
