Need help buying smart trousers!

Help me ladies!

I need to buy some new trousers in the new year, something suitable for a moderately corporate job. I like cigarette style but I can't find any that I like and fit the price point. I've seen some on Uniqlo (which I'll probably try tbh) but they're pull on which I'm not keen on.

This company showed up on an ad on Instagram today and while I love the styling, the price is far too high, and even if it weren't I don't want dry clean only trousers.

Has anyone got any staple trews like this, any colour but would prefer a black pair as back up, at a max of £40?

I'm about a size 14 and recently lost some weight so I'm a bit lost about where to go as I've previously shopped mainly online.

Have you tried M&S? My local one is full of crimpolene elasticated waist slacks but it was a revelation a couple of months ago when I happened to visit one near a business park - lots of really nice (washable!) smart trousers in lots of styles.

I love uniqlo ones - I’m apple shaped so the stretchy waist is a godsend as I always have the top small on the waist too big on the hips problem. The EZY ones have belt loops so with a belt on you’d never know they don’t have a proper fly.

The tucked waist ones are very unflattering on me but the others are great.

Hmmm I hadn’t thought of that Bill. I am also an Apple shape. Maybe I’ll try them.

@Interviewee - in all honesty I can’t actually remember the last time I went in an M&S so I’ll defintely give them a go. Not for the crimpeline slacks though Wink

Having the same issue. I hate the nasty shiny polyester fabric that Next seem to love and it's hard to find nice fabric at sensible prices . I did find a nice pair in the Gap outlet store recently - slim fitting on the legs with a bit of stretch in the waist which is good as I'm an apple too.

I do like the Gap ones tbh. I’d forgotten about those.

I hate that polyester that is shiny and makes that horrible whisking sound when you walk. Also makes me feel they’re always just about to split.
