Mini versions of expensive perfumes on Ebay

Sorry to sound stupid.
Lots of people on Ebay sell mini bottles or atomisers of expensive perfumes. I've been looking at Jo Malone and Jo Loves perfumes and these keep appearing.

Are they the real thing or are they dupes made to smell like them?

I would imagine a lot of them are dupes
Not sure if Jo Loves actually sells mini bottles
What perfumes are you looking for?
I had jo Malone advent calendar last year and still have several unused sampler bottles from there.

darlingShelby · 12/12/2018 11:00

Are you talking about sellers that decant into smaller sample sizes? They are genuine... mostly check feedback 🙂

MaiaRindell · 12/12/2018 11:01

Yes, those decanted mini versions.

You’d probably be ok.
Only buy from 100% feedback though... they usually list the perfume they tried - so it’ll give you extra info/feedback.
I think they sometimes run a little expensive. It might be a good idea to use a discount perfume selling site.
allbeauty.com is very good.

And buy a smaller bottle.
You can always sell yours too / if it isn’t to your liking.

Nanasueathome · 12/12/2018 12:12

What fragrances are you looking for?

thedevilinablackdress · 12/12/2018 14:24

Look for good reviews. I had one (Chanel Boy) and it was the real deal.

BaronessBomburst · 12/12/2018 14:30

I try the decanted ones from time to time and they've always been genuine.
They are some good sellers on Etsy too.
Annie someone in Scotland (Lady Annie) comes recommended and has been used by other posters on the perfumistas threads.
Just check the reviews carefully. Experienced buyers can spot a dupe.

I've bought decants from eBay and they were geniune , can't remember which sellers they were but had 100% positive feedback.

There is also Facebook groups that are run by someone who decants , I belong to one called International Fragrance Split Association , but unless they have a bottle opened that you're interested in then you may have a long wait until a bottle you're interested in is opened. I've been waiting a few years for a certain bottle to be decanted. Seller won't split a bottle until enough are requesting decant.

I discovered it's a whole new world !

BookMeOnTheSudExpress · 12/12/2018 21:04

eBay is so well regulated and weighted in favour of the buyer that you've nothing to lose tbh.

I must have bought over a hundred perfumes ranging from decants, testers, half full and full bottles and not had a dud.

However, if you're specifically after Jo Malones and Jo Loves you might try Perfume Parlour. They really are dupes, but by and large better (and certainly longer lasting, given that most JMs are colognes)

Luckingfovely · 12/12/2018 21:11

I've bought decants of a v v expensive perfume that I love, has always been genuine.

ggirl · 12/12/2018 21:29

yy to the Perfume Parlour , their dupes are amazing , especially the oil versions

they're not taking orders atm as they've been so busy

MaiaRindell · 17/12/2018 17:56

I'll try Perfume Parlour. Thank you.
