Packing for a weekend away

Does anyone else really stress baout packing!!! I am only going away for 2 nights (birthday treat from the man) and have already written about five lists (I am an over thinker)

Casual outfit, smart outfit, dressy outfit, dress and shoes in case we go out out, comfy boots for walking about, and a lot of "what if" scenario outfits! I need to cut it all down to ONE HOLDALL tonight haha is it just me?

I'm a famously light packer – wouldn't take more than a small backpack for 2 nights. Can I help?

Where are you going, what's the weather forecast, and what are your plans?

GemmeFatale · 12/12/2018 10:40

Jeans and jumper with comfortable boots you can walk in and a coat for day time.

Change of top and underwear for the second day.

Dress or a nice top for the evening, maybe with different shoes if you like.

Pjs or one set of lounge wear.

Wash bag and makeup bag.

Should all fit in one small rucksack.

We are going to a city in Scotland.

First night we will be arriving at night time and going straight for dinner (I am out for works lunch that day so will laready be dressed up and ready)

First day will be doing some "sightseeing/tourist type" attractions (outdoors) so thinking just jeans, boots, warm coat

At night we will be having dinner and possibly out for drinks. The next day we have another touristy trip then maybe just a wander round the shops then a slow drive home!

Sounds so simple written out....

So

Sleepwear and underwear
Your jeans, boots, warm coat combo for Day 1 sightseeing
One dress for Night 2 (that also goes with the shoes you wore for your work lunch and Night 1)
Different top for Day 2 - can still wear your jeans from Day 1.

Then maybe 2 scarves / wraps of different colours that can be dressed up or down with any of the above outfits, and some jewellery?

Washbag, chargers, and a small handbag / clutch so you don't have to take a rucksack to dinner.

How does that sound?

Done! Thanks so much! Also folded my small longchamp down and managed to fit that in as my day bag! i will use the bag I have on my work lunch as evening bag! I am zipping up and not looking at it again until I unpack there!!!

Have a lovely trip!

It’s the ‘what if’ packing that does me in. I get it all sorted, then add several options. My dh says I pack as if I assume I’m suddenly going to become doubly incontinent while flinging food over my top half.

I assume I’m suddenly going to become doubly incontinent while flinging food over my top half.

Please do this just once on your next holiday. Prove your point Grin

lifebeginz · 12/12/2018 15:01

I'm the same I love cherries. I stick to my list then I am "but what if I need these 4 items" "I'll pop these items in just in case" "Oh I might wish I had this" and before you know it I have a suitcase for an overnight stay!
