Coach Chelsea Hobo or Edie 31

I’ve been covering coach bags in general for a while, and now there’s a sale!!!

So, please tell me the pros of cons of a Chelsea Hobo vs an Edie.

I have a coach hobo and the strap is annoyingly short.

I'm sitting on my hands not to order another prairie satchel. Small but perfectly formed.

Prairie satchel is cute... but not sure it’s the right shape for me. Not quite slouchy enough!

I have the smaller Edie 28 and I love it. It's a great everyday bag - big enough for all the essentials, but not enormous or too heavy.

@DamsonWhine, I have it in deep purple, I think they called it aubergine and it’s my favourite bag, very neat. It’s not tiny just compact and practical, there are too many colour choices though and while I’d love it in black I’m also tempted by a lighter colour.
I usually like structured bags and the prairie isn’t but it’s not slouchy either.
Gah, I want another. It’s big enough for keys, purse, a few cosmetics, book,phone etc but not a larger iPad if that helps.

I do love my Edie....
But you can't get much in it and keep it closed. Its wider at the bottom than the top which means even a small notebook can be a challenge.

I got the Edie in states at a coach outlet for $93 😳. Do you know anyone who’d be able to buy it for you there? They have an online outlet, so they’d just need to ship it to you in U.K.

I have the Eddie and the Turnlock hobo. I love both of them but they're quite different. The hobo is neater. It has a little zip pocket inside but other than that it's just one compartment (unless you go for the turnlock, which also has a flap pocket at the front). The strap is short but I like that about it. The Eddie holds a lot more and has various compartments. It's big enough to take an umbrella, a book and anything else you might want to cart around with you. The hobo doesn't hold as much, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

I have the Coach smaller Chelsea (not the Hobo one) which I like because I wear it mainly across the body. I had my eye on the Hobo but they didn't have it in a colour I'd want.

I have ordered the Edie 28 (J Lewis) because I prefer a bag that is a) light and b) has an across the body option. I didn't want the Edie 31 as I could imagine everything gets jumbled at the bottom of it.

I also have the Prarie satchel which is actually quite slouchy in wear- it's soft and not structured. I really like it, but mine's blue so I tend to only use it in summer. I was tempted to get it again in another colour. it's just the right size for most stuff.

I have a dropped shoulder as a result of carrying heavy shoulder bags for decades .

I prefer the Edie but not that colour.

Yes I also have the Prairie and it’s lovely and slouchy and soft. I would have liked the strap to be a bit thicker but that’s just a personal preference

Op....do you have an outlet store near you? There's one in the york designer outlet if that helps. I was in there a few days again, they had both styles in lots of different colours, I want to say from memory the process around £249/£269 but they had an extra 40% off the outlet prices. Maybe worth having a look or ringing if your not near buy, they may post out.

I’ve had both. Love the hobo it’s really useful and stylish. Loved the look of the edie but it just didn’t work for me - too many small pockets to faff about with and it didn’t fit much

Still mulling this time over style and colour!

I preferred the Edie turnlock in deep berry and the Edie 31 in cypress yesterday! I can’t wait for them to arrive so I can work out which one I want to keep.

I’ve been using a Coach that I bought 4 years ago and fancied a change.

@Forsalechesterdraws, cypress is a great colour, good for winter but I’m really drawn by violet. I don’t think it’s a sensible choice tho... too summery and maybe too pink?!
