Hair dye help!

Hi!

Bear with me, I'm clueless.

I'm naturally really dark, my hairdresser says I'm a 2...

I currently have a barely noticeable lighter brown balayage and have just bought a blonde (8) dye that I planned on brushing through with a balayage applicator brush.

I'm basically wondering if the blonde will take, and if it does, whether it will go the colour on the box? I'm hoping it doesn't, I'm really after a light brown... but light brown dyes don't seem to take too well on my hair!

Did you do it? What happened? I wouldn't personally mess with blonde on dark hair you risk it going orange.

I've put colour flashes in my hair before but I bleached the strip before applying bright red.

I hope it turned/turns out OK?

This is not going to end well.

If you shove some peroxide over level 2 hair you will at best get orange streaks or at worst that neon yellow. It is like likely then you will pop a light brown over to tone it and end up with khaki.

If your hair is natural the you might get some joy using Majirel with a level 30 developer so it lifts and tones the hair enough. level 7.1 is dark ash blonde/light brown.

However I think you would do well to go to a hairdresser instead.

The colours in my hair are currently flashes of colour that my friend did for me using a 5... they barely took so I was hoping an 8 would give the same effect, just be more noticeable?

You'll get ginger rather than blonde.

Ginger would be ok.... I don't expect (or really want) blonde... I just want it lighter!

I til recently i've box died it black for around ten years....

It might not be just ginger if you do it, think more neon orange that could be seen from space voice of experience here
