Skin cleared up after sickness bug?!

Myself and my family have had the worst stomach bug I’ve ever known this week. I’ve been sick since Thursday so haven’t eaten since Wednesday. I’ve been trying to drink loads of water but I’m still quite dehydrated. My period started on Friday which is when I usually get a few big spots and generally my skin is more congested.

Just realised my skin looks the clearest it has in a few years. Smoother, less greasy, only the odd clogged pore but no spots. I don’t understand this at all - can’t think of anything in my diet that I’ve been missing would impact my skin that much.

Anyone had this? Don’t fancy regular stomach bugs as an alternative to facials, but honestly my skin is better right now than after facials 😂

Have you been doing your usual skin care routine or been too ill to do it? If you've not been doing your routine I'd suggest that was your problem!

My skin looked amazing after a fortnight's camping trip when I had no access to a hairdryer so wasn't using my usual styling lotions and potions. It prompted an overhaul of my hair products once I got home, as my skin was clearly irritated by the residue from them on my pillow.

Happens all the time. Mix of pallor and cleansing of bacteria from your body. Don't get attached to it, it will be back to it's greasy spotty self within days Sad

I totally had this! I thought it was because I hadn't washed my face and that had been going for it. Also DS's eczema cleared up loads one after he was ill. With eczema being an autoimmune issue I thought maybe his immune system had been to busy to make his eczema bad. I'd love to know the real reasons behind it all.

Yes!! This happens to me every time, without fail- even with a cold. By the end of it I'm marvelling at my soft, clear skin and feeling smug. Never lasts though Xmas Envy. I had assumed it was the immune system going into overdrive so the bacteria gets a bit of an internal blasting. My skin always clears up quickly if I'm on antibiotics as well.
I also think being too bloody tired and ill to be at the mirror helps, I think I touch/pick at my face far less when ill which presumably helps things along.

I have this, part of me wonders if it's a few days without make up which does it good?

VanGoghsDog · 10/12/2018 13:35

I used to find my skin cleared up after a night out drinking, I always assumed it was dehydration. Maybe it's that, my spots dried out.

I had been using my usual skin products - I don’t use much, a cleanser and a couple of things from The Ordinary. So I don’t think it was that. I rarely ever wear make up so that was no different. Only difference was not eating, being dehydrated and throwing up!

I don’t know, I lost 4lb and my skin looks great.... wish I could at least keep those things but doubt they’ll last long 😂
