First time salon hair dye! What do I want?

I usually dye my hair at home due to cost.

I am really grey now, and last time I did it I got too light a colour- so medium golden brown is wrong on me. My hair is horribly dry at the ends. (Thanks menopause. The gift that keeps on giving!)

The colour I want is like Shirley Ballas- that is my natural colour.

What do I ask for? Is all over ammonia free a good idea? Or is it that plus highlights?

Am I doing the right thing? Will it be better than at home? Thanks!
