What to wear when travelling?

What does everyone wear when flying long haul? We have several flights, long connections so want to be comfortable but equally not look like I'm wearing pyjamas.

Comfort is key, definitely. I fly medium haul (from ME to UK quite regularly) and wear a black tunic top/dress down to my knees, with one of those black vests with a built in bra from M&S, plus a long sleeve T-shirt underneath and tights. Top it off with a big scarf and ballet pumps. Easy, comfortable plus I don't beep going through security. I cannot bear underwire or trouser waistbands digging into me, as I expand when I fly!

Jersey trousers - mine are wide legged, but lots of Harem trousers about too.
Loose, comfy, teeshirt. Soft cardigan or pashmina. Then I put on my sketcher trainers!! Frankly, I don't really care what I look like!

I get changed into pyjamas trousers at least on long haul flights.

I wear normal clothes in and off the flight. I just get changed in the loo.

In airports/planes the normal rules of civilised society do not apply, so you can look however you want and no one will care

I’m flying to Hong Kong this week via Helsinki. I’ll be wearing leggings, a tunic dress in stretch cotton, a boiled wool jacket and loafers.

My long haul outfit is black hareems, Black T-shirt and a cashmere poncho (great for keeping warm!! Slip on converse too...easy on and off. Hair is usually down or in a high messy bun. Has never failed me!

These all sound like great suggestions. Thanks!
Do you guys have any recommendations for a tote style bag that would work well ?

I just got ofa long haul flight. I was wearing M&S jeggins and Breton tops (the contrasting stripes make it easier to spot each other in crowds without being neon). A long warm cardigan. Also got a lovely embroidered velvet eye mask from Oliver bonas. But I really regret not bringing some loose woolly socks with me.

Also top tip: if you are travelling far enough for your nose to start bleeding put some Vaseline in your nose before hand. Totally prevents that. I just flew two flights totalling nearly 24 hours and my nose doesn’t even hurt! Moisturise frequently as well (I know that sounds counter intuativr but it will stop your skin from going oily). And regular Vaseline on your lips. Good luck.

I flew long haul overnight recently, and wore normal trousers with a vest top & big shirt. Then on plane took off bra, changed trousers into leggings for sleeping.

Kiwiinkits · 08/12/2018 19:49

My travel go-to's are Merino trousers and a pashmina.

LunaTheCat · 08/12/2018 19:52

Make sure you take a change clothes, wipes and spare knickers.
I travel long haul regularly. Naiural fibres and loose clothes. Layer so you can put layers on and off according to how warm/cold you are. Take wool or cashmere scarf.

My current favourite long haul outfit is Sketchers trainers, Rohan stretchy trousers, t shirt, cardii and a scarf.

WrongSideOfHistory · 09/12/2018 00:40

Last time I flew I took my mia tui Jennie bag in cornflower blue (huge bag that has lots of pockets and holds everything you'd ever need - and has a sleeve to sit on suitcase handles).

I wore a fleece blazer, shirt, vest top, sports bra, skechers, scarf & bootcut jeggings. Always carry warm socks, change of underwear & top.

Longchamp LePliage long handled tote . Lightweight , washable and comes in lots of colours . There’s an outlet shop at Bicester Village too .

Chocolatebourbons · 09/12/2018 06:32

Linen trousers. T shirt or vest top. Light cardigan. Trainers or slip on sandals.

Notquiteagandt · 09/12/2018 23:04

Last time I flew long haul I had cashmere leggings on with an oversized jumper. Big merino bed socks with birkenstock bostons. A huge jersey snood scarf i wrapped around my head.

I changed shoes on plane, scarf and socks in bag.

I felt a bit scruffy but so many people said they where jeleous of how comfy I looked randomly.
