The least drying hand soap

skybluee · 08/12/2018 11:00

Hi,

I'm looking to get a new soap, but I want one that's the least drying on my hands.

  • fragrance free
  • in a bar, not liquid soap

Ones I've tried so far:
simple
various supermarket own brand fragrance free ones

  • faith in nature soap from Amazon

I was thinking of trying a neem soap, but a bit concerned it may smell.

Does anyone have any recommendations?
Would prefer it not to be really expensive.

Dove

Ollivander84 · 08/12/2018 11:11

Johnsons do a honey baby soap that's v mild. Let me think... I'm sure there's another!

Ollivander84 · 08/12/2018 11:12

Remembered!
Dr Bronner, Aveeno, faith in nature all do unfragranced bar soap

scaredofthecity · 08/12/2018 11:15

Second the Johnson's baby honey, I found it by accident and my hands are so much better this winter.

Sitranced · 08/12/2018 14:39

Marseille French soap

itsbetterthanabox · 08/12/2018 15:13

Another vote for dove

fringegrin45 · 08/12/2018 16:27

My hands are prone to eczema and so have tried loads - I get on best with one that has aloe Vera in it Eg carex or green tea/aloe method foaming

fringegrin45 · 08/12/2018 16:28

Also get the aveeno 24h hand cream if you have dry hands it's amazing

fringegrin45 · 08/12/2018 16:29

Oh sorry didn't see you said "in a bar"

foobio · 08/12/2018 16:34

Burt's bees do a baby bar, but I find it dries my hands more than my liquid soap. Maybe something from lush, they might be able to make a recommendation?

MustBeThin · 08/12/2018 16:59

Dr Bronner. Transformed my hands last winter and I've used it ever since. I've not used the bar though, only the liquid soap.

JuniperBeer · 08/12/2018 17:02

Dove is technically a detergent bar, similar to shower gel and not a soap.

l’occitane Shea butter or lemon verbena.
Lovely not drying and lasts ages!

IPokeBadgers · 08/12/2018 17:05

I second loccitane shea. Soap. Excellent.

sparkler10 · 08/12/2018 17:10

I get eczema and use the olive oil bar soap from Body Shop. Seems like the best so far.

daftyburd · 08/12/2018 20:49

Dr Bronner the baby unscented bar. I wash all over with this and my skin never feels dried out. Even wash my makeup brushes with it.

Acopyofacopy · 08/12/2018 20:56

This grape and black seed oil soap is absolutely amazing!
I bought it when everybody started raving about bar soap on here and now use it as hand soap, face wash and in the shower.

KatyS36 · 08/12/2018 21:05

Vote for imperial leather here, massively improved my hands when I was on maternity leave xx

SparkleTheTinselKitten · 09/12/2018 05:16

White Company is nice and lasts well.

I like Faith in Nature Pineapple and Lime a lot.

Also like Dr Bronner.

Herbivore do some lovely ones, especially the charcoal one.

TheBeastInMsRooneysRoom · 09/12/2018 05:27

TK Maxx usually has a wide selection of natural soaps. Read the ingredients and look for the ones that are olive oil and sodium hydroxide only. Essential oils are also fine. Any other ingredients are the problems that make your hands dry. There are usually loads and they're cheap.

EleanorLavish · 09/12/2018 07:10

Pears.

PoliticallyHomeless · 09/12/2018 17:30

Another vote for Pears. It's lush - my dad gets bad excema/cracked skin on his hands and used to get me to stockpile Simple (he's in Oz). When he was staying with me this year, he used the Pears and loved it

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 09/12/2018 21:34

L'Occitane Milk Shea
It has the mildest smell , they are all moisturising though.
I love the Verbena , sadly missing the Cinnamon&Orange Sad

Dalesgirl16 · 09/12/2018 21:36

I have dermatitis on my hand and get Cetroben on prescription but you can buy OTC.

ScrambledSmegs · 09/12/2018 21:36

L'Occitane bar soap - the milk one is my favourite. I use it all over.

Although I usually get some Marseille soap for hands, I like the olive ones.

WhoTookTheChristmasCookie · 09/12/2018 21:44

Another vote for Pears.

I think I got 4 bars for £2 in Savers. Lasts forever too.
