What does the ‘new me’ look good in?!?

I’ve had two children in the past 2 years and my youngest is coming up 3 months. Before becoming a Mum I was thin, fresh looking and my lack of style didn’t matter as would just pick any dress I liked in a shop and it would fit great. I now have considerable belly flab, floppy boobs and tired, stretch marked skin. On top of this I am short and have... shall we say sturdy legs.
I have a Christmas party coming up and want to dress up nice for it but I’ve no idea what would suit me now. I’m still young at 26 so don’t want to be overly frumpy! Does anybody have any advice about dressing for my shape?

What dress size are you?
I saw a lovely grey/muted leopard midi tube skirt in top shop and pair this with a grey fine gauge knit jumper, sleeves pushed up. Grey or black suede ankle boots. Hair down, side parting. Amazing flawless highlighted skin and a berry lipstick. Gold hoop earrings

@Atalune I’m a 10/12. I think I found the skirt you mean! Will definitely give it a try on and see if I can recreate your idea - you sound like you know your stuff. Thanks so much for your suggestion

Atalune, I may stea your style idea (though am 46, not 26)

OP fwiw I have a better figure at 46 than I had post babies! Your body has been through a lot and is still recovering. My boobs perked up about a year post-partum

motortroll · 08/12/2018 08:05

Agree with @Babygrey7 my boobs do t save half as much as they did post baby! And even though I weigh more I'm much happier with my shape!!

And at 41 I also want to wear the suggested outfit. I think it's a pretty ageless suggestion tbh as I'd also have liked it at 26!

My suggestion is a shift dress with dark tights.

picklemebaubles · 08/12/2018 08:18

Good underwear! A good bra and supportive knickers will really help. The pants don't need to be like a corset, but a bit stretchy and good coverage smooths out the tummy.

TQBD · 08/12/2018 18:42

The outfit sounds lovely, could you link to the skirt please?

Atalune · 09/12/2018 12:57

This is is This one

It’s a bit more muted in real life. It would also look great with a mustard chuncky oversized knit jumper.

Needmorewine · 09/12/2018 13:07

Atalune you’ve made me want that exact outfit you describe ! Any recommendations for the type of jumper you’ve said ?!

Atalune · 09/12/2018 14:12
