Are coated jeans a big no no these days?

I love mine. They are the most comfortable jeans I've ever had and I love that you can dress them up or down, but my friend tells me they're very old fashioned now. Sad I'm still seeing them in the shops though so I'm hoping to tell her that the good people of S & B have spoken and she's WRONG!
