Opinions on this jacket

Looking for a couple of new jackets to wear during the winter and would like your opinions on this one. I want a jacket that can go with pretty much everything I wear and I think I've got that down so would like to hear your thoughts. Thanks!

It’s polyester rather than suede/leather/sheepskin so I suspect it might look a bit cheap and flimsy in real life. Have you seen it in real life yet?

HairdresserWithARubixCube · 06/12/2018 20:09

@SuperstarDJ Friend of mine has one and I was debating on whether to buy one since I like jackets like this. Doesn't look cheap at all imo. It's very important to me that the jacket is not made out of real leather (I'm a vegetarian). I also find it difficult to find jackets I actually like so I just asked her where she got it and she sent me the link.

Looks like a dodgy Chinese site to me - suspect it won’t look anything like when it arrives. Plus fake leather etc always looks crap, I’d spend a bit more and get real sheepskin if I were you.

Im not keen to be honest. Looks a bit cheap and flimsy.

Not a fan. Sorry.

Look at the contact us page. They are based in Hong Kong.

As a vegetarian sheepskin or real leather isn't an option. It's more the style of jacket that I like, not necessarily this one.

I don't think it looks great quality in the images and personally wouldn't buy from that website either but that aside I'm not a huge fan of it, it looks ok styled up and open but I think wouldn't look great zipped up tbh. For me all the visible white hemming, thinner 'fleece' and the faux leather belt do really cheapen the appearance of it.

There are tons of faux suede/borg aviators on the high street as they had a bit of a moment in autumn. When you say you like the style OP do you mean the aviator/both thing or the cut? I think it's quite hard to find them in a longer length, though I think in a way it's because that length doesn't work as well with those materials, it's hard to get a flattering cut.

The only longer faux suede ones I've seen tend to be as above, in plainer colours. River island usually have a few as well. If you don't mind it shorter, I suspect you'd find one anywhere on the high street.

I like the shearling and visible seams etc. I once had a coat vefy similar to that but not as long, that I bought from a vintage shop in the 1990s. I have no idea what happened to it but I still miss that coat!

If you don't want new leather/shearling as a vegetarian would vintage be ok or just a definite no? I have bought faux from vintage shops too and they have been great quality wise - might be worth a look?

Hannnnnnnxo · 07/12/2018 15:28

Sorry, it looks awful. As in both the cheap aesthetic and the style of jacket. It won’t age very well at all, it’s not trendy now and it won’t be in the future in my opinion, so will you still like it next year? There are better options out there so don’t waste your money.

If your friend has it and it looks nice, then it seems good to me.
