Link to previous thread.

And once again, let's keep this good-spirited. Spiteful comments are about as welcome as Fergie at Prince Philip's birthday party!

Just popping in to say it’s a funny and cringey bump holding. As a previous poster says no one really walks around like that when pregnant. Truly odd.

Want2bSupermum · 11/12/2018 04:22

With the size of her bump I wouldn't be surprised if that baby arrives in early March, unless she is 10 days over, in which case it will be latter half of March. I will be shocked if she makes it to April!

It's quite obvious they waited as long as they could to release the news and it was planned for after Princess Eugenes wedding as a distraction from the potential negative fall out of her wedding being a bit excessive compared to Princess Annes DCs weddings given her status. We don't need to know her due date but it's quite obvious she is further along than they are letting on.

mrscampbellblackreturns · 11/12/2018 05:37

Love MM's dress and sandals. Re. the bump holding - I keep thinking she has a fake maternity bump in there and is stopping it falling down ;)

Paradyning · 11/12/2018 06:06

She looks absolutely fabulous.
The bump holding is as I have said all along since Oz - affected.

Quantumblue · 11/12/2018 06:14

I don't like the bump holding. She needs to learn to make occasions all about the people being honoured, not about her. Love the dress.

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 11/12/2018 06:39

MM looks lovely - but bump holding no just no.

unnameduser · 11/12/2018 06:42

I think she looks lovely. And yes, she cradled her bump. But shock horror, maybe she's just happy to be pregnant. And if she wants to emphasize it, more power to her. Her pregnancy, her body.

Maybe as women, we don't have to criticize everything a woman does that we don't agree with. Especially, when it's something so natural as pregnancy.

EmGee · 11/12/2018 06:44

I can't get worked up about the bump holding. I do love the look - total class!

Disfordarkchocolate · 11/12/2018 06:48

The bump holding doesn't bother me at all. I loved to hold my bumps, I felt blessed.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 11/12/2018 06:51

Interesting that Meghan’s appearance was not on the KP twitter page. I guess it was considered a private event despite being really high profile.

TipseyTorvey · 11/12/2018 06:53

I think she looks amazing. Much better than many of the Auz trip outfits as it looks like this has been tailored perfectly for her bump. Also love the sleek bun much more than the messy one that always makes me want to give her some hair pins. Am going to leave the bump cradling out of it as many other pics of the evening she's not doing it so it might have been a momentary action due to nerves that's been promoted now as her being pretentious and 'American'.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 11/12/2018 07:00

Meghan has definitely got into her “pregnancy style groove”.
She definitely looked more ‘Hollywood” rather than Royal last night.
Although Kate does pull out the style stops when she has a big evening function.
Meghan was so confident with the speech making; I guess that is the actress training; it serves her extremely well in a public role; that she can just deliver a speech without notes.

evilharpy · 11/12/2018 07:08

Couldn’t give a shit about the bump holding - but what a lovely bump it is. Her speech was great and she looked amazing.

QueenOfTheAndals · 11/12/2018 07:22

I can't get frothy over the bump holding, seems a strange thing to hold against a pregnant woman!

Its been confirmed her dress was Givenchy, which is fair enough given she was presenting an award to Clare Waight Keller.

Great speeches by Meghan and CWK, both came across as warm and genuine.

I wonder if she has a new stylist, this outfit was a different league to the majority of her Australia tour outfits.

Whatever has changed it really suits her, she looked fantastic and all power to her for riding the media shit storm in the way she has.

The bump holding is a bit funny but maybe she felt awkward with what to do with her hands. She had no bag or notes to carry. I suppose it was the natural place for her hands to fall.

keiratwiceknightly · 11/12/2018 07:27

I think she looks stunning un those pics. And all power to her for managing the heels with a bump that size! I don't care about the bump holding - she could be a bit sore standing and wants to help support it, or any number of things. You know what? It's ok to hold your bump when you're pregnant.

QueenOfTheAndals · 11/12/2018 07:39

After everything that's been written about her in the past few weeks, and her dad's latest outburst, I give her a lot of credit for coming out looking fabulous and delivering a warm and confident speech. I think it shows strength of character and a refusal to be cowed by all the negativity, which is a huge asset for anyone who joins the royal family!

See, here's the thing. She is massively tuned into what's being said about her. Her accounts may be off social media but I don't for a moment think she's stopped looking at it. She knows about the "holding the bump" thing.

I don't think standing behind someone receiving an award is the appropriate time to recreate an action that has been accused of being attention seeking. She knows full well that it was pointed out time and again in Oz, and not favourably. So is this making a point? "Fuck you, I'll hold my bump if I want to"?

I believe the more appropriate action would have been to fade into the background at that moment. Sure enough, she is being excoriated for the bump holding this morning. "Even the Virgin Mary didn't cradle her bump that much and she was expecting The King of Kings!"

PawneeParksDept · 11/12/2018 08:02

Just because Catherine wouldn't have done it doesn't make it a terrible faux pas.

I think it's a cultural difference to be honest - something that an American might think a sweet gesture, and jaded Brits be like Hmmaye ok love

I can't get worked up about it and as I said last night she looked flawless and I felt like quite a lot of people jumped on that so at least there was SOMETHING to bash her for.

It's totally unnecessary.

Missyelliottsaysso · 11/12/2018 08:02

I seriously cannot believe that people are wound up that a pregnant woman held her own baby bump.

ViragoKnows · 11/12/2018 08:10

I think it must be nerves. She used to fiddle with her hair.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 11/12/2018 08:19

I just rewatched the YouTube video. Meghan just did that cradling thing right at the beginning of Claire’s speech. Possible the baby was moving a lot with all the noise?
Then she seemed more settled and just put her hand under her bump, which I think is normal.
There are so many photos of her bump cradling; it looks like she was doing it more than she actually was. I guess it’s a comfort/ reassurance thing. If Harry was there, she’d be hanging on to his arm.

queenofarles · 11/12/2018 08:22

she looked beautiful, and the dress fits her so well, but that two hands cradling the bump pose looks so contrived.

user1457017537 · 11/12/2018 08:46

Mrscampbellblackreturns I though that as well, she doesn’t want a Beyoncé moment!
The two arm bump holding is really affected in my opinion.

Bloominglovely · 11/12/2018 08:46

The British want her to fade away into the background, suitably chastised and less confident. Screw them Meghan. Do not let them bully you. Stand proud.
