Sparkly top and PVC skirt for a Christmas party?

I've had a PVC skirt for a couple of years, A-line just above the knee. All the skirts I've seen advertised have the models wearing them with jumpers and boots. So - a casual look. I've got a party to go to next week and was thinking about wearing it with a black sparkly top but I 'm not sure if this is too much? I was going to wear it with thick black tights and suede shoe boots.

I'm mid-40s, size 12/14 and very insecure about how I look! Is it too much to dress a PVC skirt dress up or is it casual wear?

I would be a bit wary of adding sparkly top to pvc. I think ONE full-on fabric at a time is the general rule.

Would you not be too hot? PVC plus thick tights and boots at a party sounds a bit sweaty to me

I'd go for a plain top and some sparkly earrings or necklace.
The boots and a t-shirt type top would keep it on the not over-done side.

I tend to wear a basic black roll sleeve t shirt with my pvc skirt as I think anything fancy can be a bit much. I then would go with more like a 40-60 denier black tight so they are not too opaque with a court shoe rather than a boot and jazz it up with a statement necklace or earrings.

Thank you for your comments! I guess there's a reason why the models are keeping the outfits simple. I'll stick to the sparkly top with jeans.

I wore a pleather skirt to a party last weekend...i wore with opaques and heels and wore it with a cream lacy top.
