Work do what to wear? help!

First Xmas work do.

I’m a senior leader. So want to look like good but nothing too much...

I’m 5’10 size 12 but a bit lumpy and a little mum tum! Confused

What should I wear? Was thinking shift dress and some statement boots?

How about a shirt midi dress and boots or a midi pleated skirt and jumper?

Depends on the event:

  • where are you going?
  • what time of day?
  • time to change or straight from the office?
  • who is going, just your team or whole company?

I love a shirt dress.

I will have time to change.
Evening from 7
At a secondary school auditorium (they do make it look nice though from what I’ve heard!)
Whole of my trust is going so 6 primary schools and a secondary school staff. About 200+?

So sorry for the delay, life got in the way of Mumsnet, sadly.

Ok, so I think shift dress and boots would work. Although maybe watch that the dress isn't too 'worky'.

Otherwise, personally, I would wear a smart fitted knit dress with opaque tights and black shoes. Or generally a smart casual dress with the same tights and shoes, and perhaps some statement or glitzy jewellery.

I think Roland Mouret style knee length shift in a heavy material (e.g. wool) with black courts. Or an actual Roland Mouret if budget allows!
