So, if you had no boots..where would you start.. Say you could afford 5 pairs to cover casual, work, going out, block heel, flat, ankle, knee.. What would you do? I have at least 8 pairs but still feel like I have gaps. Am considering just setting fire to the credit card and starting from scratch. Any thoughts? Thanks all Smile

Hiking boots

Medium heeled black lace up "granny" boots

Long, flattish, very plain black leather boots

Long, flattish, tan or taupe leather boots, possibly with a bit more detail (straps, rough texture, lacing?) than the black ones

That would basically do for me but if I was having one more pair, possibly short brown or black elastic-sided boots for wearing with jeans.

I currently own some burgundy boots and fancy some red ones, but I wouldn't go for any unusual colours if I was trying to keep boot buying to a minimum and have each pair as versatile as possible.

1 Chunky black biker boots
2 Tan Chelsea boots
3 Burgundy block heel ankle boots
4 Flat knee highs / 3/4 length
5 Stiletto heel black sock boots

Over a lot of years I have acquired

Black Fly wedge boots (not much love but robust)
Stone and pewter ankle boots, almond toe. Good trans seasonal.
Burgundy low heel wedge, get lots of use, except in rain
Tan suede Spanish riding boots
Black/brown high heeled boots, for dressing up
Cheap grey wedges, for everything
Flat grey flatforms. Current favourites.

I’ve got smart flat brown Chelsea boots
flat knee high brown (semi smart)
Chunky casual “biker” mid height
Knee high heeled black (v smart)

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 01/12/2018 21:44

Love boots. DD made me count mine the other day - I have twelve pairs.

As a minimum I'd want:
black flat ankle boots
black heeled ankle boots
brown knee high
snow boots
a suede pair of some sort

Nearlyadoctor · 01/12/2018 21:52

My top five would be:
Black suede heeled Fairfax and Favour Regina’s
Brown DuBarry Galways
Chestnut Uggs
Black leather Timberland Chelsea boots
Walnut DuBarry Clares.

I do have lots of boots - Coats and boots are my downfall....

XingMing · 02/12/2018 16:13

And I have hiking boots and wellies.

ChishandFips33 · 02/12/2018 18:57

I have a silly amount of boots but lots are a variation of the same thing so good question

I couldn't live without
Grey ankle boots, block heel (comfortable, great with skinnies and dresses)
Knee length burgundy boots, small heel (burgundy bridges the gap between blacks and browns in my wardrobe)
Calf length black boots
Burgundy ankle, dipped front boots

RomaineCalm · 02/12/2018 19:42

I would add a pair of winter weather boots - couldn't manage without my Merrell Oslos.

ChishandFips33 · 02/12/2018 20:16

Good point; This is why 5 pairs just isn't enough 🙈

Dr Martens and caterpillar for the winter

PinkLipsDontLie · 02/12/2018 20:55

My top 5 would be:

  1. Black slim lace up flat ankle boots. Currently I have a pair in brogue style and I absolutely adore them as they go with both skinny jeans and dresses.
  2. Black sheepskin boots. For when I want to feel extra cosy in the cold.
  3. Stiletto heel black sock boots.
  4. Suede high block heel lace-up ankle boots (black for me again lol)
  5. Low heel ankle boots in any colour (navy, red, burgundy..)
Noisygirls · 02/12/2018 21:01

I have no boots at the moment :( I am v talk with a rather chunky calf and just can’t find any I like!

Noisygirls · 02/12/2018 21:01

Or even tall..

HugeAckmansWife · 02/12/2018 21:33

That's great thanks guys. I have some gorgeous low heeled brown knee high, lace up heeled, black ankle boots (like Mary Poppins style), light grey block heel ankle boots, calf length flat black but awful cheap plether, flat chunky black ankle boots ditto brown, imitation uggs which need replacing and flat grey suede calf length which I'm living in for casual at the moment. I just feel like a calf length, really comfy, very low but not flat heeled brown chunky ish type would take the place of lots of them. (I also have hiking boots, wellies etc)

I have:
Green wellies
Navy hiking boots
Purple DMs (think oxblood are probably the best colour to go for)
Black chelsea bots
Navy chelsea boots
Dark brown knee high boots
Tan knee high boots (these are over 15 years old and really need replacing).

ChippyPickledEggs · 02/12/2018 22:29

I have:

One pair of flat, leather, black ankle boots.
One pair of suede, stilletto heeled, black ankle boots.
One pair of leather, black, high block heeled boots that reach towards the lower calf.
One pair of tan, leather, high block heeled ankle boots.
One pair of tan, leather, high block heeled, knee high boots.

I saw a gorgeous pair of burgundy leather high block heeled ankle boots the other day. The burgundy was subtle and slightly faded looking. Me want them.
