Best solid black MATT tights - the holy grail!

I’m sure this question gets thrown around pretty often here but I’m looking for tights that are solid (so 150 or 200 denier I think??) and matt. I have a lot of pairs that are great, lovely and comfy but have that shiny finish when they are on which drives me bonkers.

I had a great pair last Winter but can’t remember where they were from, would have been M&S or supermarket but don’t want to go and buy 7 pairs of tights to find out!

I had the F&F ones last year and they had a good matt finish. Very comfortable too.

I am.a huge fan of snag tights. THey are 80 denier matt, do a range of colours and they fit! They dont roll down, the crotch isnt half way down my thighs, they dont pinch, squeeze or dig. Love them!

80 denier is enough to be solid and not see through.

Sainsbury’s 200 denier ones are good

miggeldysthepres · 01/12/2018 17:39

Watching with interest

Emmak789 · 01/12/2018 17:40

I like Sainsbury's brand ones, I think they are good value and wash well.

HellenaHandbasket · 01/12/2018 17:40

M&S have some I think, in a pack of 2 for about £8.

gobbin · 01/12/2018 17:56

Lidl when they have them in. Their warm lined tights are amazing.

slug · 01/12/2018 18:43

M&M woollen tights are matt and cosy

thereisnorinbath · 01/12/2018 18:45

Falke 100 denier gives solid colour. Fantastic quality; last for years.

GoofyIsACow · 01/12/2018 18:48

M&S here the first review slates them for being shiny but i have about a zillion pairs and mine don’t shine!?

pigsinarow · 01/12/2018 20:21

Oh wow lots to try, those Falke ones look great although not spent more than £10 on a pair of tights before due to dogs at home!

I am also a Falke fan, but recently got some 100 denier tights by Gipsy via ASOS, and they are great.

pigsinarow · 01/12/2018 21:25

@judystilldreamsofhorses are they see-through at all? I always thought I needed to go higher than 100 denier for a solid black.

OP posts:
Judystilldreamsofhorses · 01/12/2018 21:30

No, they are totally opaque. I usually have the 100 denier Falke ones and these are just as good, although to be fair some of my Falke pairs are on their fifth year now. (Casualties have been due to misplaced cat claws rather than wearing out!)

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 01/12/2018 21:31

Oh, and I have never worn higher than 100 denier and like a completely blavk leg!

SwedishEdith · 01/12/2018 21:33

Sainsbury's Velvet Touch - I think that's their name.

Cherries101 · 01/12/2018 21:33

M&s

pigsinarow · 01/12/2018 21:50

😃 Thanks!

pigsinarow · 06/12/2018 12:46

Just wanted to update everyone the Gipsy tights from ASOS are AMAZING! Perfectly matt and so comfy, and such a great price. Thanks to PP for the recommendation I am so chuffed!

The Gispy ones only come in black? Sad

HalfBloodPrincess · 06/12/2018 20:14

I bought Dd (15) 2 pairs from sports direct in September. Didn’t hve high hopes for them cos they were quite cheap but they’re still going!

They were £2.60 when I got them but they’ve gone down even more!

HalfBloodPrincess · 06/12/2018 20:15

Should have rtft- didn’t see you’d got some already Blush

ChishandFips33 · 06/12/2018 23:29

F&F velvet touch - so wish they still did them in Teal

fleece lined tights are good too if a tad hot for office wear
