Leggings

I know, I know, another post about leggings.

I need some new ones and thought I'd check how this seasons are. I've heard Sainsbury's used to be great but now aren't worth getting.

Ideally I would like some thick enough so you can't see my underwear, and with a wide waist band (like Mint Velvet ones). Preferably under £15.

I think that's basically it! If they aren't too obviously leggings that would be amazing too - I know this sounds ridiculous but sometimes I see people wearing leggings and you would have guessed they were jeggings but no, leggings!

If anyone knows of any jeggings with a wide waistband that would be great to know too.

The primark cosy leggings are what you want - wide waistband and quite thick. I was surprised how much I like them

I always get the M&S leggings. They're super stretchy and accommodating without them being seethrough. Grey is my particular favourite but they do all colours.

I've got thick thighs and wide hips so I have a hard time with leggings, usually too tight around the legs or too tight around the waist. But M&S, perfect.

I'm now looking at mint velvet leggings 👀 are they decent?

QueenGoblin · 29/11/2018 12:27

@FloofenHoofen I like them, I was sceptical at first and they are a bit thinner than I thought they would be, but overall they are my favourite leggings right now. I have a bit of a squishy mum belly going on and not having a thin band to emphasis it is great! I got some from H&M that are similar but just not as good.

Ooooh are they quite forgiving then? I have mum tum too so know what you're saying :)
I think I'll get some and hope they'll fit my thighs!

I've found matalan leggings good this year. £6 a pair, thick, comfortable, no outside seam like you get on some of the really cheap ones, certainly not see through AND they have a wide waistband.

I seem to be living in them at the moment Grin

Another place I thought were good for leggings were hollister. Not the sports type ones, just the plain regular leggings, they're super thick and stretchy.

Whilst we're suggesting good leggings and where from, I'm just going to throw out there the ones that I thought were terrible.

  1. Peacocks - waistband digs into stomach and sides giving muffin top appearance, thin, too tight around thighs.
  2. Selfridges - material not stretchy, more for the thin legged ladies. Fabric didn't appear to be see-through though.
  3. Next - great around the waist, absolutely terrible around the legs, I found it kept pulling them down with how tight they were around my thighs and knees.
New Look - too sheer, can see pants straight through them. Also tight fitting (cheap ones)

As you can probably tell, I do love my leggings.

Also for the sports leggings, if you're a gym go-er. Reebok are amazing for those with mum tums, or wider waists. They run slightly large and have a lot of stretch.

Boden are best and they remain black! So unusual for leggings not to lose their colour in the wash.

legolimb · 29/11/2018 20:42

I got some Mint Velvet leggings this week. Seem okay. Not see through.

FrederickCreeding · 29/11/2018 20:45

Not a wide waistband, but the best ones I have found are from White Stuff. Really comfy, don't go saggy and are non see-through.

QueenGoblin · 30/11/2018 19:54

Thanks for the tips. I will check some out tomorrow whilst enjoying a baby free shopping trip!
