Why does my hair look at its best when it’s dirty?

Just that.
Today is day 5.
Day 2 and 3, I used dry shampoo.

Today it’s got body, volume and a nice bounce but it’s dirty and so I’m going to wash it.
And so it will do back to being fine, thin and lifeless again Hmm

I have long thick hair and i completely agree/ so now when I wash and dry my hair I give it a squirt with dry shampoo to give it some volume!

It's probably the dry shampoo.

If your hair is fine & slippery, dry shampoo adds body. Day 2 will have a bit of grease/skin debris on the scalp so the dry shampoo will "grip" better to the hair.

The same reason hair looks great the day you're due to go to the hairdressers...sod's law.

Yep. My hair is thick and always looks best on days 3 & 4. It has lots of body, movement and volume. I guess we must be doing a good job with styling it after washing, for it to look & feel better.

that's exactly it Villanelley, the law according to Sod states that when my hair looks fabulous, it feels horrible and is a bit smelly Sad.
it's not fair is it?
