Ok. Have posted before but I need help! I'm 43, had a baby 10 months ago & gone from a 12 to 14, I'm 5"4 & my main problem area is my tummy.
I have tried to clothes shop many times.
I have very little clothes now as all too small.
Looked in places like matalan, George asda, outfit, new look etc as those are nearer me.. I go bk to work next week & work in care, but don't require a uniform & is support rather than anything else.
I rarely go out, if do, it's cinema, meal with partner, bowling etc. No out out as don't have any friends to go with.
What can I wear & wear do I look to get things that are Not high end or really expensive, going to Cardiff one day so suggestions there if anyone knows it?

Doesn't help that have no idea what colours suit me, I have fair skin & highlighted brown hair brown eyes (if this helps!) x

Book in at Debenhams or JOhn Lewis with a personal shopper. You aren't pressurised to buy anything but if you do end up feeling like you should you can always return it.

I did this and it was fantastic. Styles that suited me and colours that really worked. I went and bought the equivalent stuff in H&M and Sainsburys.

Thanks Peridot Cricket, that's a good idea, and it's free which is good. I live quite a way out from nearest city so have to wait a bit before get any chance to have one as have to sort baby minder erc
I'm a bit miffed as I thought Id give in and get a 14 skinny Jean (well 2)only to find that it's baggy in the leg & don't look flattering at all 🙁 luckily where only cheap, but I'm bk to square one.
I need a 12 I think in a very stretchy soft material. Hoping to find some that fit well soon. No idea where tho...thanks again x

I know this is deeply unfashionable to say this:,but M&S have a great range of jeans! I have rediscovered them. Keep my tummy in check and they have skinny legs if you want that style. Some are very well priced and they have a good range of deep dye which I like. No problems with washing or shrinkinage either. They might have other things you like on line. I love my pair of slightly stretch black trousers that also come in green and burgundy. Slim leg but again tummy control is first class! Mine look great with the leopard print cashmere they do but obviously that’s pricy, but the trousers are around £29 I think. Their side stripe trousers are also fantastic.

I would also be looking at Arket for tops and knitwear (bargains in the sales if you can wait a month) and White Stuff do casual clothes that are very wearable.

Why don’t you shop on line??? So much more choice. Order lots and send back what you don’t keep! JL won’t be cheap!

M & S you say BubblesBuddy? Hmm I will take a look, & yes you're right i could order online & try on, often tho I take tag off(thinking I've found the ones lol) wear once then don't like them so get shoved to bk of closet along with others! Im either really fussy or have an odd shape.. Hmm bit of both I think.
I like leggings but they're a bit cold for this weather, then there's finding a long enough top etc I have two pairs of footwear. Skechers & black ankle boots with an inchish block heel. That's pretty much it! I see things in the shop but they're either too smart or have short-sleeves so I end up Just circling & giving up.
Think I'm so anxious about it as I'm not feeling very confident in general & I get quite down this time if year, & struggle to raise a smile it seems (sorry I sound a miserable bugger I know), no friends I can spend time with or ask for help so i struggle.... I seem to be wandering now... Anyhow thanks for your help, I will definitely give them a look x

Why don’t you have any mates? No new mummy mates?

Hi waisted jeans, slim mom jeans from Topshop are lovely. Think they are called Orson. Then a crew neck jumper from Uniqlo with the hem just tucked in a smidge at the front. Wear with your black boots.

Same jeans with a shirt, sleeves rolled up and maybe a interesting neck so maybe a big bow- but done low down in a nice deep green or navy with a pattern. Tucked in. Agin with your boots. Both smart enough to wear out or to work. Some little glints stud earrings for the eve.

It’s a cliche but-
Get a gel manicure
Brows shaped and tidy
Mascara and lippy

Good coat. I like a slim line wool single breasted coat in charcoal is safe or a deep jewel colour if your feeling it!

Marks and Spencer’s has some lovely stuff. Check the Holly Willoughby picks on Instagram.

Atalune, no I haven't made any mummy friends sadly.. I've got one or two old friends from school but I see them very very rarely. Its been like this for ages.
Thanks for suggestions. I've limited money so expensive brands are out I'm afraid.

I agree about M&S. Try their jeggings with long line top. You can get jeggings for £15, then spend a bit more on a few tunics from Seasalt on eBay.

fringegrin45 · 29/11/2018 22:35

I agree spend money on tops not bottoms. I

I like Sainsbury's tu skinny jeans v comfy if you have a Sainsbury's

Welshheart · 29/11/2018 22:46

Making friends gets much easier when kids go to school Flowers

Well I would gather a look book together -Pinterest- and then shop in charity shops, eBay etc.

Can also recommend m and s high waisted jeggings.
