Red wrap dress

I have a red wrap dress, admittedly a few years old which I love and would like to keep because it's flattering.

Every time I pull it out of the wardrobe though, I feel it's a bit dated-looking and I'm not sure what to put with it.

It's a day dress, bright red really, and the wrap is deep so it does need a camisole underneath.

Does anyone have any good ideas what to wear with it... colours, shoes etc, I really want to start wearing it more often.

Thanks in advance!

Sorry I'm rubbish at visualising- do you have a picture?

It sounds lovely, I love red and I love wrap dresses. Black courts are a classic with red, but you could also do navy. Depending on the length boots with a heel could look good.

I used to have a very staid, just below the knee wrap dress I wore to work. To give it a bit more edge I wore it with shin high, thin heeled boots and fishnet tights (with a very small fishnet hole so it was subtle not stripper). The flash of leg between the boot and the hem stopped it looking too mumsy.

Thanks @Loonoon, I'm happy to hear black shoes are classic.

It's just under the knee in length, and it isn't mumsy in cut, I just can't seem to make it look right.

Will investigate navy as a coordinating colour, thanks!

I don't have a pic but it's basically this one with short sleeves https://www.phase-eight.com/pws/ProductDetails.ice?UniqueProductKey=205093250&redirect=true&utmsource=google&utmmmedium=shopping&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIqogt9Dw3gIVhPhRCh2AdgvKEAQYASABEgILDDD_BwE
And the tie is on the back.

...and the V is a lot deeper.

But it is red like that one!

It nips me in at the waist and I do feel glam in it!

I’ve just ordered it in red and green! I hope they look as good on me as they do on you.

I love red and camel - so camel coat or a camel jumper belted over the top so it looks like a skirt.

Leopard print ankle boots would look awesome with it.

QueenEnid · 25/11/2018 23:14

I'd dress something like that up with scarves or necklaces. Or something for your hair?

NewGirlRedDress · 25/11/2018 23:36

Over a polo neck with heeled boots for a 70s vibe

MrsVoleTheVet · 27/11/2018 09:02

I like the camel coat suggestion,

Thanks so much everyone, it would seem I'm totally over-thinking and should just put it on with something!

Good luck @Loonoon, I hope it's the one for you! Mine is phase 8 but from years ago. Nice and Christmassy!
