I have ombre-ish/balayage hair at the moment, dark for about 4 inches from the root and then blondish towards the ends.

I'm getting my roots tinted next week dark again, and I've suddenly decided that I would quite like this.

What say you? Be kind..I am aware that this girl in the pic is young and pretty. I am mid 40's, used to be prettier but not too shabby with slightly quirky style/leopard print/coated jeans/ex goth/indie kid.

Is this fun and quirky or should it be firmly consigned for the young? Will I be the sad old has-been on the school run?

For context I spent most of my teens/20's with various crazy coloured hair, and even had a mini mid-life crisis a couple of years back and dyed my hair in a rainbow of colours. It was fun for a couple of weeks, but then I got fed up. I have a nose ring and a few tattoo's.

This I feel should wash out eventually (according to my hairdresser)

hmmm..?

I love it! And you are never too old. Embrace the midlife crisis and go for it!
My hair is naturally red, and very dry so I wouldn't be able to do it, otherwise its the kind of colour I would go for.

As an aside I work with a Psychologist who has the most beautiful pink hair and people love it and don't think she looks unprofessional.

Plus its only hair! If you hate it, you can dye it dark xx

Whatififall · 25/11/2018 10:07

Go for it!

Badwifey · 25/11/2018 10:09

I had it. It was beautiful but doesn't last long and leaves a permanent pink tinge on your hair so if you want to go back blonde again it can be difficult. It's a night maintenance style.

Badwifey · 25/11/2018 10:10

High not night!

tierraJ · 25/11/2018 10:10

I like it. Our PA has bright pink long hair & I have hair envy. She has to condition it lots though to keep it in good condition.

HellenaHandbasket · 25/11/2018 10:52

Doooooo ittttttt

DavetheCat2001 · 25/11/2018 10:59

Thanks for the positivity!

@Badwifey that's one thing I am concerned about, it staining my hair.

I really like what you have at the moment. But the pink would be awesome.

DavetheCat2001 · 25/11/2018 11:17

Thanks costacoffeecup, just wish I wasn't greying so much! It really shows through as my roots come in!

I'm desperate trying to grow my hair to about the length of the girl's in the pic above, but due to some (what I think are) underlying issues my hair has been thinning horribly the last few months (seeing Dr on Tuesday for BT's), and I've been feeling a bit down about my hair. I used to have so much of it!

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 25/11/2018 11:39

Go for it OP, you'll never know, unles you try !

delilabell · 25/11/2018 11:55

I'd do it I think it's beautiful

Cerseilannisterinthesnow · 25/11/2018 22:24

I like that photo but you will only maybe get 2 weeks maximum out of that shade, but you could maybe get a Wella perfecton to refresh or Maria Nila?

DavetheCat2001 · 26/11/2018 15:00

I can always re-touch it up (she says hopefully!), and actually I'd prefer it to be temp in case I hate it!

Does anyone think judging by my hair pic, that it will take ok?

OP posts:
MarthaArthur · 26/11/2018 15:03

Do it. This colour works best keeping it on for a lot longer than the stated time for keep on for 6 hours plus or overnight if possible this helps the colour last much longer. Also keep topping it up like conditioner to keep the colour.

MrsWhiskersen · 26/11/2018 16:23

I think you’ll be fine

DontCallMeCharlotte · 26/11/2018 16:53

I think it will definitely take. I also think the bleached areas will retain the colour longer than you might like. Even more so now that I have seen this thread Grin

DontCallMeCharlotte · 26/11/2018 16:54

By the way, I'm very jealous of your hair as it is. Mine will not sway from Mum-bob!

Ohyesiam · 26/11/2018 17:05

Nice tiara

You are getting bloods done for the thinning hair aren't you op?

WhoKnewBeefStew · 26/11/2018 17:07

I think that will look fab, go for it

spugzbunny · 26/11/2018 17:20

Not what you asked but ... what do you use on your hair to make it look stylishly messy / choppy ... not really sure how to describe it! I don't know how to add texture to my hair!

DavetheCat2001 · 26/11/2018 17:31

@DontCallMeCharlotte thank you so much. I've been fretting about my hair falling out recently Sad @Ohyesiam yep that's me! It's been falling out in great clumps for the past few months..I've had blood tests today to hopefully see what's going on. It's got so thin.

@spugzbunny - I don't do much to be honest. My hair has changed texture a lot in the last few years and this is how is kind of wants to fall now. I used to straighten the shit out of it, then realised that actually with the balayage it looks better wavy.

I use this which I would highly recommend after washing:

www.lookfantastic.com/kerastase-nutritive-nectar-thermique-150ml/11258176.html?out-of-stock-alternative

It's a heat protectant but i use it even if I'm not heat styling as it just seems to help it dry less frizzy.

Oh..and I HIGHLY recommend this by Kerastase too..I have read so many good things about it, so use it as a hair masque every time I wash my hair and it has really helped the texture and stopped it being so dry and frizzy:

Hope those links work..and thanks for the nice comments. I've been feeling really down and crappy recently.

I think it's beautiful !! So pretty . As an ex goth / indie kid myself I personally went grey a few years ago and I absolutely love being a silver haired weirdo 😂 I keep it shoulder length with layers and find it fits my look perfectly so don't be afraid of the grey

DavetheCat2001 · 07/12/2018 12:56

Thanks @Vicliz24

Apparently it should last a few washes
