Any budget friendly under eye primers?

My under eye concealer always creases - even when I've tried setting with a powder. Been recommended to try an under eye primer. I don't have bags but quite dark circles. Currently using the following concealers

Mac studio finish
Maybelline eraser
Mac Pro long wear

Any recommendations??

I did consider that and I've tried to cut down. I think a primer could help though - didn't know there was such a thing!

Is this it?

Bendy avocado concealer. Lightweight, doesn't crease

AnnieOH1 · 24/11/2018 21:55

I would be tempted to try using an under eye gel (Aldi and Avon both do good ones) which will smooth and plump first (and reduce the need for concealer anyway) rather than an eye primer (for under eyes).

But it's not bags, it's dark
Circles. My eyes are really deep set as well so the dark circles look worse

I use an origins eye cream at night which is quite nice

I’ve been on the same quest and apparently smashbox photo finish is also very good. I’ve checked the reviews on MakeupAlley.com. Haven’t tried it yet.

TheMarbleFaun · 24/11/2018 22:39

Smashbox Photo Finish is a great primer but the ELF one is near enough exactly the same

autumnleaves19 · 24/11/2018 22:46

What's ELF??

I've just finished the smashbox one, I bought a small tube on eBay. It definitely makes a difference. I use that, then phwoar paint (I stocked up when no17 was ending) followed by either Tarte shape tape, maybelline eraser or Mac longwear depending on how bad the dark circles are, then a sweep of powder to set. I've not found anything that actually hides them properly, it's such a bugger and it's the one thing I would change about myself if I could,

TheMarbleFaun · 25/11/2018 09:18

You get ELF in Superdrug there are 4 or 5 different primers but the original clear one is a dupe for the smash box one costs about £7 I think

Reading with interest as one of my eyes has a really bad dark circle! At present I use Clinique under eye concealer but a primer sounds useful.

daftyburd · 25/11/2018 13:11

I use the ELF under eye primer in clear from Superdrug. Last time I bought it was on offer for about £3.50. I use a different elf one on my eyelids that I need to get online. It’s has eyelid primer on one end and eyeliner seal on the other.
I used to use the Smashbox undereye primer. Bit more £££££ but good too. Elf being cheaper means I can afford Laura Mercier secret brightening powder to set under the eyes.

autumnleaves19 · 26/11/2018 20:00

@TheMarbleFaun isn't the ELF a concealer rather than primer? I'm Asian and struggle with finding a match so I would prefer to try under eye primer rather than hunting for concealers

Oh just read @daftyburd message. I can only find concealers or eyelid primers on the Superdrug website when searching for ELF??

It’s wrongly labelled as eyeshadow primer on the website but if you zoom in on photo you can see it’s an undereye primer and it’s correct in the description.

TheMarbleFaun · 27/11/2018 07:46

I meant the ELF mineral infused face primer but I’m now interested in that one that daftyburd is talking about!
Is it a dupe for smashbox as well?

daftyburd · 27/11/2018 14:36

Yes I used to use the Smashbox one and it’s a more budget friendly dupe. Then just Maybelline concealer and then Laura Mercier Secret Undereye Brightening powder to set. It’s the only powder that’s never enhanced my lines. It’s £22 but lasts forever as you only need a tiny amount.
