Help - 'going out' trousers...

At 48, I know that I am not a dress/skirt-for-a night-out type. I prefer trousers. The problem is I always look the same! Anyone got any good ideas for trousers for a night out that aren't jeans, leather or velvet? TIA!

Maybe a pair of silky wide legs? Expensive but lovely pair at Kitri:

I have a pair of gorgeous black trousers which have a velvet stripe down the outside. For some reason, the stripe seems to really lift the trousers and make them dressy. I think M&S might have something similar in the Autograph range.

I'm considering these from Me+Em. Also spendy, but beautiful.

Look online at River Island- lots of styles of black trousers. More than in the shop.

Search for tuxedo trouser, which is I think what CrazySheepLady means; the outside stripe can be satin too, and the main fabric a crepe. This will lift them from being everyday black trousers to something smarter.

Me and Em, Cos, Jigsaw, White Company all usually do them this time of year. I'd invest in getting some in a decent weight crepe otherwise they will go shiny and crease easily.

I’ve got a lovely pair of tuxedo trousers I got from Next. They might be from the Lipsy range. They go with anything and look lovely with heels and almost any top. They have an elasticated waist so brilliant for eating out/Christmas do!

Thanks all! Didn't realise I'd had any replies until just now Smile. Am researching now - quite like the Me and Em tux trousers but what's with the flouncy removable (leaving visible loops) belt...
