I like Theresa May’s new scarf but why the hell has she styled it like a blanket?

Clearly she likes a Hermes scarf, and that’s fine - not my preferred colour palate but fine. But what a strange way to wear it.?

I can see that she might need a bit of a comfort blanket after the week she’s had - but surely that’s what cashmere is for (if you have her clothes budget). Heaven knows she’s far more stylish than me, so am I missing something?
(And by the way, the news and politics topics are => thataway if that’s what you’d prefer to discuss).

Not to me, I’m afraid! I think, like her or not, she’s had the patience of a saint with all the men bailing out, or being plain awkward she’s had to deal with! I realise this view may not be popular!

BehemothPullsThePeasantsPlough · 24/11/2018 10:02

There is a hint of the Martyrdom of Saint Theresa going on. You’d certainly need the patience of a saint if you had Johnson, Gove and Rees Mogg in your workplace.

Id say shed had to pulled down slightly but as its silk its just slipped down even more.

Was hardly the time for her to start faffing abiut with her scarf. So she just left it be.

Bombardier25966 · 24/11/2018 10:28

Poor woman, like her or loathe her, she probably needs one.

Save your sympathy for all the women and children in poverty as a result of austerity, the families split up because of her hostile environment, the women unable to leave abusive relationships because of the shit shower that is Universal Credit and all the support services that have had to close due to funding cuts.

But yes, she definitely needs a Hermes blanky.

HellenaHandbasket · 24/11/2018 10:35

Fuck it, with what she has on her plate at the moment she can wear what she likes, how she likes. I'm no fan of her politics be she is pretty formidable.

You can have deep empathy for these woman and comment on her scarf.

SillyPsychicAcid · 24/11/2018 11:38

Could you not put her name in the thread title? Or put this in chat?

Style and beauty is my safe space away from all Brexit related shenanigans.

Lord knows we all need a pink cloud.

helzapoppin2 · 24/11/2018 12:01

My pink cloud is currently “I’m a Celebrity”. Deliciously daft!

BehemothPullsThePeasantsPlough · 24/11/2018 12:31

But if I put it in chat then people will insist on talking about politics - when I want to talk about scarves.

Now this is an unimpeachable way to wear a scarf.

@BehemothPullsThePeasantsPlough I love that red suit, she should wear more colour. I thought of wonder woman when I saw the first pic of her and the hermes scarf and wondered if she had chosen it to channel the super hero vibes it what is a very shit week at work for her.

silkpyjamasallday · 24/11/2018 17:52

If you're spending that much on a scarf it make sense to wear it to show off the design! A silk scarf isn't really for warmth, only decoration.

Oakmaiden · 24/11/2018 17:59

I didn't think she looked very well, when I saw her on the news. It may have been her posture - I guess hunching forward over the microphone isn't great body language for a confident leader, but I just thought she looked tired and not her normal self.

Not bothered how she chooses to wear her scarf though...

IJustLostTheGame · 24/11/2018 18:47

I'm with bejazzled
I want TM's Westwood suit too.

XingMing · 24/11/2018 21:15

Women in the public eye always have their style choices scrutinised. FWIW, I think TM works hard to balance her interest in fashion with looking like a serious politician, and gets it right most of the time. She has serious health issues and a schedule that would kill me stone dead.

Notcontent · 25/11/2018 10:30

I have absolutely no idea why people think it’s ok to be so horrible about someone’s appearance.

QuentinLettsisAbitofAtool · 25/11/2018 10:45

when she was on Desert Island Discs (when she was still Home Sec) she chose a year's subscription to Vogue as her luxury item because "I adore clothes"

I found that oddly touching.

Floisme · 25/11/2018 11:44

Good for her - I think it's really great to see a woman in late middle age in a serious job who's not afraid to say she adores clothes.

QuentinLettsisAbitofAtool · 25/11/2018 17:43

I thought so too, Flo.

Cheekyandfreaky · 27/11/2018 19:15

How would one wear a scarf like that, asking for a friend...

Cheekyandfreaky · 27/11/2018 19:16

Btw, I’m no Tory fan, but TM looks a darn sight more stylish than most politicians.

Avegemitesandwich · 27/11/2018 19:42

IRL it seems to be a universally agreed fact that she looks utterly ridiculous almost all of the time, yet on MN she's 'stylish'.

How does she look 'ridiculous'? Because she is vaguely 'out there' with some of her choices? It's obvious that she loves fashion and that if she wasn't PM and under such intense scrutiny she would be even more experimental with her clothes. And I love that!
