Best straighteners for very thick hair?

My wide ghds have given up the ghost after 11 years so looking for a new pair for Christmas. Are ghd still the 'go-to' brand? There is a deal on hotdealsuk at the moment for regular straighteners and hairdryer. Is the hairdryer worth having? I think I'd prefer wide straighteners to make it less of a chore but welcome opinions

Cloud nine are better than GHDs imo

My daughter is mixed race and has thick curly hair. She uses ghds and thinks there brilliant.

Another vote here for cloud nine wide plates, had mine ages and still work like a dream.

Bizarrely my wide plate GHDs died this weekend (handle broken in suitcase, thanks baggage handlers). I got some new straighteners tout suite because did not wish to resemble a hedge. I got the wide plate Cloud Nines, and they are better and much lighter.
